24: Anything I need to know to start watching?

I've always heard about the quality of 24 but don't have access to the DVD set to start with season 1. I also heard that a lot of the cast has turned over for this year, so I figure it's a decent time to start--isn't it a new storyline every season (a new 24 hours?).

Anyway, midway through the first episode it seems that I need some background on some of the things going on. What do I need to know to understand the show? Or are some things left without explaination for effect (like why the terrorists want the suitcase)?

Thanks.

(Oh, and is it highly preferable that I start with season 1 anyway?)

the storyline this year doesn't seem to tie into anything in previous seasons, so yeah, it shouldn't be hard getting into it now.

Use Netflix. You can order TV Seasons on DVD just the same way you would get single movies with no add'l cost.

Oh, and expect the unexpected (for the most part).

i agree, netflix will be your friend so you can watch seasons 1-3

but don't get confused about the storylines if you try watching two seasons are the same time

season 4 doesn't seem to tie in much from season 1-3. season 1-3 seem much more closely related.

the suitcase deal is new... we know as much as you do.

If there's something you're confused about, just ask and we can tell you if it's got some ties to the past seasons.

They are 4 eps into the current season and if you start watching with the 5th you might have a hard time understanding what's going on.

enjoy. 🙂

there is only one real spoiler for seasons 1-3 in this season. it kind of takes away from a storyline in a previous season (i won't elaborate), but it's ok.

Funny, just like work. If I left at 5:55 every day, I'd rarely have to stay late.
