24/7 with no sleep mode?

Hey all, question about PC runing 24/7 without sleep mode...

Most of my PCs have been running like that: Sleep Mode OFF, computer at idle all day/night, screen off, good night...

I've been doing this since I can recall, checking stuff in the morning, letting the PC idling on the desktop and powering off the screen for the day until I come back home after work, all week long.

Is this good or bad? No issues so far in the last 10 years...
Should I use the sleep mode?

unless you really want to save a few pennies on electricity cost there's really no need. i do the exact same thing with my main desktop computer

My computer is about 9 years old now...Pentium 4 3.2GHz.

I used to have my computer go to S3 sleep on it's own after an hour's worth of inactivity. It would restore in seconds after I hit the space bar and was wonderful. Two things then happened, the video card died and I replaced the old CRT monitor with a ASUS widescreen LCD. Now, either the monitor or the nVidia 8400GS won't reinitialize the video after waking. As such, my computer has been running 24/7 for years now. I'd prefer the computer to sleep, but since it's in its own room it doesn't really matter. I like to keep bittorrents running anyway.

I would highly doubt you would ever experience issues. Its more a matter of electricity savings. Since I pay my own electricity I keep my desktop off when I'm at home, but keep my file server running for overnight downloads and such.

It's perfectly OK to do this. You're using more power than you have to, but that's about the only harm.
