- Not looking for frills (and definitely rather not pay for them!). Purely functional assessment.

Just started doing research on a gaming rig and I'm getting a bit overwhelmed.

Anyone have recommendations, maybe a top 3?

Edit: removed G-Sync or FreeSync consideration. Too cheap to pay that much of a premium!

There are only 2 (3?) panels out there that fit this criteria. 2 are 27". This is taken directly from the stickied "All G-Sync/Freesync Displays" thread in this subsection

3) Acer XB270HA 27" 16:9 1920x1080 TN 144Hz 8-bit ulmb
4) Philips 272G5DYEB 27" 16:9 1920x1080 TN 144Hz 6+frc
5) BenQ XL2420G 24" 16:9 1920x1080 TN 144Hz 6+frc mbr
6) AOC G2460PG 24" 16:9 1920x1080 TN 144Hz 6+frc

The 24" are more or less the same. There is the XB241HK which sports an IPS panel. Think its almost $400 though...

Freesync and G-Sync (at least for now) are brand specific. Freesync is only compatible with AMD cards and G-Sync Nvidia. Typically, G-Sync panels are a bit more expensive.

Thanks for the quick response! Might consider the AOC or the Acer XB241H (TN), but likely won't pay that much of a premium (Freesync monitors didn't seem to be marked up as much).

Any ideas on the older Acer XB240H model (also has G-Sync)? There's an open-box (manufacturer warranty still applies) near me for ~$250, as opposed to the XB241H for ~$390.

If Sync isn't a factor, the Acer GN246HL seems to be at a huge discount ($180 on newegg) compared to the rest (~$250) and I can't figure out why.
