I've not heard of any loading any faster at all. It'll be cooler and quieter though which is a big deal with Xbox since the older versions are like jets taking off.

I'm not sure the internals of the Slim and the E are different. There shouldn't be any difference in performance and heat / noise might be a bit lower / quieter on the E.

Personally, I'd buy the Slim because last I checked, it came with a bundle of games and was cheaper than the E (but that was over a month ago).

There should be no difference in performance between the E and S. Acoustics I'm not sure about, but the S is already pretty quiet so there can't be that much difference. Going with the E, you lose 1 USB port and the optical audio out compared to the S.

I've had both. Speed wise there is no difference I can tell. The fans are quieter on the S but the cdrom drive is like a jet engine.

I miss the days when a stripped down late model release of a gaming console actually saw a lower price point for the consumer. Now the savings aren't passed onto the consumer at all, they're merely pocketed by Sony or Microsoft.

I'm pretty sure the Xbox can't copy the game to the hard drive anymore. That used to be a nice feature because you could copy the games you played the most off the CD and it only used the CD drive to verify that you had the game....then all the content played off the HDD. It made for some really calm and quiet gaming. I hate how loud the Xbox CD drives are.....it's especially bad in my media console. I'm tempted to try hiding my Xbox in my closet in my new media room if the RF will work without too much interference.

What are you talking about? All models of the Xbox 360, including the E, support game installs as long as you have the space on either flash or HD.

Yeah. $400 for an xbox w/hdd. Now $300 for a xbox w/hdd. That's a 25% discount in 8 years. This generation has had the worst price cuts relative to time of any generation in history.

I went back and forth as well recently between the Slim and E. Decided to go with the Slim's because they seem to be at least as good and are very cheap at the moment. Bought 1 unopened for $100 and the other as a refurb with a game from GameStop for $120.

The reason I bought 2 more consoles for the house so the kids don't fight over the one we had. And the other I bought for use in the bedroom for movies and ESPN 3 games (Xfinity app, Amazon Prime Video app, ESPN). About as cheap as an Apple TV! I also then bought a 250 GB Xbox hard drive for one of them for under $50. Hopefully this 360 platform will still be ok for a couple years. No way I was gonna spend $500 on a new Xbox One.

I don't have both, but my Elite Resident Evil 5 model is still running strong with no ill effects. As far as fan noise is concerned, installing the game to the hard drive cuts down most, if not all of it
