I got this in an e-mail. This probably isn't that hot, but I saw this and thought that maybe somebody might need some of these hard drives.....

Also, they have a microsoft mouse for $12.95
it's optical, has scrolled, and is corded
MS Mouse

Spend $150 get a free t-shirt

Realtek nic $3.95

Unibrain 1394 3-Port Ti PCI Firewire Card for $7.95

I didn't check for coupons, and I didn't check shipping. Thanks!

edit: Checked out shipping $19.05 for the 4 pack, so not that great but still $52 for 92 gb of scsi space ain't bad right??

I thought this would be a cool deal until I read through the specs...5400 rpm, bah. If I am gonna go with SCSI, I need at LEAST 10k rpm. A seven disk RAID 5 would be awesome (~140Gigs of fault tolerant space) with a cost of $66 - with a drive held back as a spare...but then FIVE AND A QUARTER FULL HIEGHT DRIVES? lessee, I would need a box with FOURTEEN 5.25" slots, and about 20 fans. And a 600 Watt PSU... it's just not worth it.

Unfortunately SCSI has lost. IDE and SCSI to IDE rules the roost for the small buyer.
[rant]I just purchased, for work, 2@ Promise SX8000's for about $4K. Then, because it was a rush job, I slammed in 16@ 200GB WD 7400's (about $3K). Total capacity over 3 Tb for $7K NO discounts or anything. For this capacity alone SCSI hard drives would cost twice as much. And next year I can swap out the '200's for 300's plus and feed the 200's down to workstation users.
As far as being a home buyer I've got one of the Gateway servers which came with a 9GB SCSI for ~$350 total. Well, thanks to CC, I'm adding a 120GB 7200rpm IDE for ~$20 (w/tx). Last year I added a 40Gb for $10,
The no warranty might throw this off, but he $10 for a hard drive ain't bad
,and the year before a 100Gb for $100. I've now a server system (dual P933) with 260 Gb of IDE storage and 9Gb of SCSI for < $600. Should have ebayed the SCSI.
While SCSI runs over $4/Gb IDE has dropped to $1/Gb. [/rant]

A good deal on SCSI drives is like a good deal on Beta tapes. You've GOT to have that specific solution, like 14 drives on 1 controller.

I bought one of these off of E-Bay a long time ago. The first one was defective and had to go back. The replacement has worked fine for many, many years now.

Of course, since it's a hulking monstrosity, and 3.5" IDE hard drives have plummeted in price while skyrocketing in storage space ... the 5.25" full height 23gb SCSI drive has largely been out of service.

I still occasionally use it as pseudo off-line storage. Of course, now that I have a DVD-R/-RW burner, that may be less of an issue as well.

Hey, anyone wanna buy my drive for $10? 🙂
