How do you use RivaTuner? I have version 2RC9. Do you do everything through the power user tab? I loaded 23.11 database, which is the closest to 23.12. The power user tab is not user friendly. Where is the D3D Vsync?

Well, not much difference from the 23.11's. 3DMark 2001 went up from 5610 to 5660, ran it a couple of times to confirm. All the Detonators from 14 and up have a problem in Janes WWII with 4X FSAA enabled. I got around that by using 1600 x 1200 x 32 with FSAA off, looks good and the Gainward Geforce 2 Ti 500 has plenty of speed to run that resolution. But using a 1024 x 768 desktop caused the 1600 x 1200 setting in Janes to be sized slightly wrong, kinda of irritating. But now with the 23.12's the game screen matches the monitor screen perfectly now, not sure why but I'm not complaining.

How are these with Ghost Recon? The 23.11 bumped me to the desktop sometimes for no reason. When i restart it's usually fine. I didn't notice the 21.83 doing this.

How do you use RivaTuner?

In the main startup screen you'll see two triangles on the right hand side of the window. Click on the bottom-most triangle and it'll expand to show the main tweaking options. Then pick the Direct3D icon and a new window will open with a list of tabs at the top of the screen. Go to the vsync section using the tabs and you'll find the control there.

Thanks! They should tweak that UI a little to make the main tweaking area easier for dummies like me to find. Yes, it did fix the D3D Vsync. So far, the 23.12's seem ok.

I have a VIA base motherboard using WinXp Pro with Visiontek 6564 Ti200. With the 23.11 drivers my system crashed on a regular basis, reinstalled the old 21.83 and never looked back. I really hope they cleared up the bugs with the 23.12 driver.

No nV driver has ever caused me any instability what so ever including the 23.xx drivers.

OldFart,

The 23.11s were horrible on my Tyan Tiger MP boards. I had a 50/50 chance of the system not even getting into XP. However, they were fine on my Intel systems.

Yeah, I guess it depends on your hardware. I run an Intel system with Win2K. Works like a peach.

BTW Bingo, I've said this before. That is one incredible collection of PC's you have there!! :Q Very nice indeed! Which one is your favorite?

Other message boards I read have been having fits because of all the problems the 23.11's were causing. Every time someone would come in complaining of severe system instability, I'd cringe when they said "I've even installed the latest Detonator drivers.."

In 90% of the cases, moving back to a previous driver version fixed the problem.. Here's hoping the 23.12's are good.

And here's hoping they get the hacks out soon so I can run them on my GeForce2Go :D

I installed the new 23.12 drivers and so far so good. I did a few benchmarks and my system never crashed or locked up on me like the 23.11 drivers did. So right now I would say the new drivers for my system is a big improvement as far as stability goes. For performance, nothing has changed, still getting the same 3dMark2001 and Quake3Bench scores.

Doomguy is NOT the exception, you are!!! People have been complaining about 23.11s since day one. Most people have gone back to previous versions. Lets hope the 23.12 are indeed stable!

I must be weird I guess since my system is stable with the the 23.11 drivers.

The 23.11 drivers have made the majority of people happy. It's just that infinite loop bug that's getting to people.

Downloaded, and played with them for a while...
Seem stable, no real problems yet.
I ran the Nvidia tree demo which used to give me an infinate loop error, didn't get one, but then again, didn't always get it.
as for performance, I don't see much difference between 23.11

using the old wintune (yeah, I still use this ancient benchmark)
amd duron 950 @ 1134
Gainward Geforce 2 Titanium (standard: 250/400 o/c to 300/500)
1280x1024 @ 16bit color (Yeah, i should have used 32, but forgot to before installin 23.12)
average of three tests...

2d video
23.11: 265.0651 MPixels/s 23:12: 267.9321 MPixels/s
D3D
23.11: 574.5873 MP/s 23.12: 580.7628 MP/s
OpenGL
23.11: 24.1307 MP/s 23.12: 24.1985

A little bit more, but not enough to get excited about, the numbers usually always vary from test to test.

I'm ging to try the tree thing a few more times in the morning, and see if I can cause a crash.

Avedis.

People that think the 23.11's are "stable". Go to viahardware's message board and viaarena's message board and you'll see all the complaints.

Try looping 3dmark2001 overnight, it'll most likely crash/reboot your computer.

memory hole associated with 3DMark2001.... Each loop it runs leaves less memory available to your system....

Right, I tested the drivers last night and they seem just fine - exactly like the 2250s were for me. Serious Sam seems to be a little faster and a bit smoother, which is a nice bonus.

And since Riva Tuner works just fine with them I'll stick with them.

I have run the 23.12's all day and they are about like the 23.11's but I did lose 300 on 3D mark so they are a bit slower on my computer than the 23.11's were, Nascar 4 seems to like the 23.11's better so I don't know but will still use them but wouldn't tell someone to run out and change if they are doing ok with what they have

I gained about 350 3dmarks using these drivers but then again it might be because I upgraded the VIA drivers from the ones in WinXP to 4.37. I was using the 21.83 drivers previously. I guess they weren't exactly performance drivers.

VisionTek GF3 Ti200 ( not overclocked)

3DMark2001

22.80 - 6013
23.12 - 6018 :disgust:

Tried the 23.11 before but always had infinite loop error, had to reinstall Win XP. Tried 23.12 with a spare removable 4GB drive just case, looks stable to me.

Wrong. I get a BSOD and an error associated with the nv4_disp . Win2k doesn't get the infinite loop error, but you have the same symptoms.

I am also getting rebooted on overnight 3Dmark2001 benchmark loop run on a freshly installed Win XP (no 4in1 Via driver installed) with 23.12 WHQL driver which is the same as a BSOD when I was running it on Win2K using 23.11. I think it is either memory leakage or driver issue.
