Assuming everyone is telling the truth, kudos to her. Kidnappers deserve worse.

Nice thing about castle laws. Kidnapping is specifically addressed. You can use deadly force for kidnapping, you don't even have to fear for your life.

Story seems odd. Hard to believe a convenience store robber would want to take a baby. And you're telling me she shot him in the back as he's holding the baby? She's real lucky the bullet didn't hit her baby as well.

Well, it would make sense to shoot at the legs in that scenario I guess.

She aimed for the knee.
People robbing convenience stores aren't generally in the right state of mind. Haven't you seen the videos where they just come in and start shooting people for no reason? Maybe he took the baby because she wouldn't comply and he was punishing her.

I take the story at face value. I'm sure there is video footage of it, too.

He died from a shot in the knee? Yeah I know someone mentioned the artery, but hospitals really can't save someone from a shot in the leg?

You'll bleed out in 5 minutes if your femoral artery is severed. It's a life threatening injury even with help. Feel that strong pulse behind your knee on the interior side, that's it. Feel that pulsing? Now imagine it's blown apart and with each pulse you leave a puddle of blood.

Nice to see at least one other ATOT-er has a brain, the idiocy in this thread was growing so thick we could stand on it. This story does not add up. A mother shooting someone in the back while he was holding her baby? BULLSHIT, no way in hell. She shot the guy and invented the story of the baby.

Said the guy acted strange when he came in so she was probably waiting for something to happen. What criminal wouldn't want to steal a baby all ready to go in a stroller? Easy money.

You mean 2 babies? She had a 1 and 2 year old at the store. And if you read the story you'd see that is says the stroller was all bloody.

It's cool that she saved her kids and all but why were they with her in the first place? It seems pretty stupid to have your kids with you at work especially when there is a time you are alone.

The man who was fatally shot at the store was Daniel Ramont Hernandez, 32, of Summit Place Circle, Golden Gate. The clerk involved in the shooting is Elizabeth Easterly, 22.
No charges have been filed. The investigation is continuing.
10:19 a.m. update

Sheriff’s detectives are continuing their investigation of a fatal shooting at an East Naples store.
The shooting was reported at 3:44 p.m. Tuesday at Del’s 24 Hour Food Store at 2802 Thomasson Drive.
According to detectives, a man walked into the store, caused a disturbance, and was shot by a clerk. The man was taken to Naples Community Hospital, where he later died.
There are conflicting accounts in initial incident reports regarding what prompted the shooting.
Detectives were told that the man “tried to grab the owner’s baby and she shot him.”
However, after investigating, detectives reported that no children were present.
The names of the victim and the clerk are not being released at this time.
Detectives are continuing to sort out witness statements and analyzing other evidence and an update on the shooting should be released later, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Michelle Batten.
This is the same story, right??

The only idiocy going on in this thread is your posting.
I dare you to walk up to some lady and grab her kid. Even the most mild mannered submissive little woman will turn into freddy kruger if you mess with her baby.
Grow up, and get out of your apartment every once in awhile.

I take it you don't have kids.
Sometimes kids go to work with you. Working at a convenience store, i doubt she had a stay at home nanny to watch the kid 24/7.

i've had my kid with me when the baby sitter bailed.. . .it's easy, rear naked choke, lock in the hooks and let her sleep for an hour.... rinse repeat.

OTOH, this lady SHOULD be let off, but "reasonable person" is very vauge and i don't have a lot of faith in our jurrors

No I don't but I wouldn't be stupid to take my kids to work with me knowing that I live in a dangerous city/town and am alone, as a women no less. Since the store is family operated it seems very hard to believe that not one of her family members would be willing to watch her kids while she is at the store and they're not.

Now with the update about of no children being present that makes sense.

Aimed for the knee != shot in the knee.

No children present does not sound good.

Aside from the "no kid found", sometimes you don't have any other option. Just the way it is.
