Interesting. Ok, what is a better car in the sub $50,000 range assuming these criteria?

1. Coupe
2. Handling
3. Acceleration and top speed
4. Engine sound
5. European designed interiors
6. Made in Germany
7. Name brand recognition and resale value
8. Parts and service availability
9. Starts with a B and and with a W

That's right, I thought so.

LOL...please. Your criteria are ridiculous. Complete troll.

Holy fuck you sound like my fucking moron friends that buy 40k 328i's because "BMWs are the best car you can buy"

Then they put regular gas in them and beat the hell out of the engine because your 0-60 time is that of a V6 Camry/Accord

Well I use premium always so I can't speak for your friends. I use the equivalent of Gasbuddy on my iPhone to find the best deals nearby. I think there's a bit of a misconception that many BMW owners are simply blinded by the majesty of the brand and that they lack the insight into the value of other brands but that is far from the truth. If you can see from my reply with the very basic cost breakdown in the BMW cost of ownership thread recently posted, there are a few things that crosses our minds before deciding on a car. My list is a condensed list with a slight hint of sarcasm applied but it isn't far from the truth.

How can a parentless (dead), educationless (college drop out/failure) asian guy be a yuppy? I work hard for my money and provide good value to my customers and employers and apply the same 'value with a bit of style' philosophy to my materialistic needs within my means. BMW is my car as Civic is to yours.

Yuppy has nothing to do with where you came from, but from the ignorant ways you make your decisions. Plenty of us are BMW fans here...but if your criteria for buying a car is that it is a BMW...well you're being an ignorant fan boy...and thus we will make fun of you.

The original post was not to be taken seriously.

Seeing as the first post stated "Joke?" and I soon followed it up with a post stating I needed to "smack you"...most of us took it as a joke. Well either that...or we were very sad for you.

It's pretty hard to make that car look ugly, but they are trying their darndest.

The E46 series were the last ones I liked. They had that modern styling while maintaining that distinct BMW look. The new ones have these horrific looking trunks, droopy headlights and overall looks like beluga whales on wheels. I'd buy a new M3 only if they kept that E46 look but alas..

I like the Audi R8 too but I can't afford it : \

Fixed for the only thing your $50k gets you over my $25k. The rest I win.

Particularly you're completely screwed on:

3. Acceleration and top speed
4. Engine sound
8. Parts and service availability

Parts and service availability? For an import, much less a German import, are you kidding me?

Better is subjective based on what you want. There is no one car that does everything the best. There are cars that do a few things the best, and cars that do everything well but nothing best. If you don't understand the BMW M is the latter, you don't deserve one.

To do something the best invariably involves compromises in something else. Best handling = worst ride quality, most powerful engine = crappy fuel economy and NVH and high maintenance, best luxury = bloated boat, best performance = least comfortable to live with daily and a bear to drive, etc.

PS: I want to get a E46 M3 and get a license plate that reads "LAST I6" or "LAST M"

Don't get worked up about it. People always joke about nice cars, saying they're overpriced or a waste of money. It's motivated by jealousy.

BMWs are a sweet ride, it's no secret. Some BMW drivers I bet bash Bentley and Aston Martin drivers out of jealousy. Just as some dude in a Ford bashes the BMW driver. Just the cycle of jealousy.

You know what, suddenly your making me want to sell both of my BMWs. I don't want to be associated with this mind set.

22" would be better served "elsewhere" for the OP.

Drive what you want but don't be surprised by "profile stops" and maybe a drive by for mistaken identity of rival drug soldier pimpn 22s on a small car..:p

They're only sweet if you don't turn them into monster trucks.
