I believe you can get another year from Newegg if you pay like $5 (???), otherwise it is 30 days. It gives you the option upon check-out. Some reports have come in with good results with stepping JIUHB, but JIUCB chips seem to be struggling even to surpass late-stepping T-bred A's. Right now, I think its still a gamble to get the 1700+ and 1800+'s as there may be JIUCBs still out there en masse.

As for your earlier post, I would think your mobo would be fine. T-breds are unlocked, and the 2100+ would give you a default multiplier of 13. All lower multipliers should also be available, so RAM permitting, you should have a flexible set-up to OC. Unless you have slower RAM like PC2100, its probably best not to flash and to stick with the 13x multis and lower.

As for the video card, the latest Tom's review and the AT article on the 9700pro done months and months before that indicate the GF4's don't scale as well with faster CPUs. From the AT article, it looks as if they plateau around the 1.8ghz mark. I'm sure you'll see some improvement, but the GF series is an already bandwidth limited card in comparsion to the Rad. 9500/9700 series. GF cards have relied heavily on clock and ram speed increases, where the Radeon 9700pros are data hungry chips that can use the extra bandwidth from the CPU.

Thanks Rushour- They would probably be out of stock again if I relied on their automatic instock notice.

thanks chiz very informative post!

maybe i should stay put with my GF3 and Tbird?? my ram is pretty good it is Elixir chips 512mb of PC2700 that will go higher around PC3000 (i have some for sale to if anyone wants some)

hmm $5 for 11 months seems cheap. I am torn!!

think even a 9500pro would be better than a GF4? with a 2+ghz cpu that is

Well, I am at 200MHz (11.5x200=2300 even!) :D PIC (BTW, I've no idea why the pictures look so crappy once I post them..they look fine on my screen)

But all is not well. All SANDRA tests rock. 3DMARK goes w/o a hitch, but P95 keeps crashing. :( I'm currenlty at 2.77v memory at 1.8v CPU.

If you remember correctly, When I was at 12x185 all I needed was 1.650v to be stable. Now, my multi is lower and CPU speed is actually 30MHz less (negligible, I guess) so why is P95 still erroring? it errors out only about two minutes into the test.

What voltage should I up next? My timings are CAS2, 2-3-4.

Did I mention I have 2 of these Athlon XP 2100+ AIUHB chips sitting on my desk in front of me? :D

EDIT: About to install one of 'em, wish me luck :D

Its your FSB and RAM timings. I lowered my settings last night to 14 x 174 (I think...comes out to 2422) and I'm thinking it'll be much more stable, esp. with my RAM. I won't know for sure til I get home though. Keep an eye on your voltages while running any tests and that'll give you an indication if it needs more juice or is drawing so much that you need to bump it. Try 1.85V and 2.7V :p

Thanks Chizow. I'm already at 2.77v for the memory. I'll bump up another notch to 1.825 and see what happens. Id on't understand why it would need more voltage though...I was at much less voltage with a higher multi yesterday.

BRB.

Aight, booted fine at 166x13 and am running at 2.158ghz on 1.75v (automatically gave it more juice cause I dont like failure :) )

Gonna see how high I can take this before it'll stop posting, before it won't boot into windows, and then I'll report back here. Muahahahahahhahah.

How high do you think you can get with a slow 80mm fan and an slk-800?

Trying to decide if I should get an AMD water block to replace my p4 waterblock or go air cooling.

100Mhz difference isn't worth the hassle of water cooling to me.

Note to self:

$6 heatsink != watercooling

Can't wait till I can get my reservoir back :( at 170x13 booted into Windows fine at 1.75v, going to see how much higher it'll go booting into Windows.

Let me say this right now...a GC68 can't take the heat :(. Anything over 1.75v = CRASH! Gonna see if I can borrow a friend's
SLK-800. Why oh why did my reservoir have to break :frown:

It's a darn Koolance system, so my options are limited, which is why I'm thinking about buying a totally new setup in a nice big roomy case. That or go back to some nice air cooling.

Ha ha.. yeah actually the processors were back on at 7PM EST, or 4PM PST. I got ahold of 3 of these beauties. :D One for me, one for my friend.. and one just to say I have another to spare. Not really, I'm going to use it in another computer that I'm probably going to put together next month. Had to get ahold of one while I still could.. at least while they are still $100

Aight, just to let you know, I've been running Prime95 for about 2.5 hours at 166x13 and so far its nice and stable. Even looped 3DMark2k1 a few times while it was going on to try to crash it.
