Heh, TT Dumb fan. Nice one, Chizow!

MatthewF01 I just did what you're debating - I ordered a 2100+ to replace a 1700+ Tbred A. My "A" goes to 1.83 GHz @ 1.65V, and 1.9GHz @ 1.7V ... can't get it to work at 2 GHz no matter the voltage.

I figure even if I get one of the so-called "bad" chips it still will go to 2100Mhz, which is a nice bit faster than my A. So, in my eyes it's win-win.

Hehe yah, MichaelD gets a kick out of it too 😉

Yeah, that sounds about right with the 1700+. If you got an early one like me, (week 32 AIRGA, got it the day it was available on newegg), they did worse than the week 42's or later RIRGAs. Just didn't want to go any higher. Another thing I noticed too was that my FSB wouldn't go past ~170 no matter how low I dropped the multi. Just guessing the 1700+ had a smaller "threshold for pain". 😉

Setup my newegg 0302 2100+ greenie/SLK-800 YSTech variable fan with EPoX 8RDA+ and Corsair XMS 3200 C2 memory last night. WD 80GB SE and ATI 8500LE 128 video. I was waiting for my case to arrive, and I finally realized that wasn't necessary. Doh!

Setup no problem. Installed XPSP1 and updated BIOS. Started conservative at 12x180 with conservative voltages and memory settings. No problems. Currently running 12X190 with no problems yet. 6-3-3-2. Default CPU voltage, but 2.75v memory. Idle temps are about 39-41C. Highest temp I have seen yet is 48C. I am running the YS Tech fan at speeds that don't sound like an airplane, which it can do easilly. I have yet to not post, not boot into windows, or lock up with anything with the the settings I have dinked with. I haven't done much of any benchmarking -- getting a feel for this system. Ran through everything I could on Sandra, played a video game (my one and only game, Harry Potter something or other -- my sister sent me this, honest) and goofed around with Office XP stuff. Later today I will get back on that system and start to get more serious -- case arrives today as does a Vantex Iceberq.

At this early stage, I am rather pleased. I have read many other good reports about 0302 2100+ chips. I also have an 0249 TbredB 2100+ brownie that I am trying to decide what to do with. I got sucked in bad when everyone was talking about which steppings were best. I really, really want to compare (scientist in me can't resist), but I should probably just sell it (have yet to touch it). I am not sure I would feel right sending it back, but maybe. I could also hang onto it for a another system I want to build, but funds are depleted, so that's not going to happen in the short term.

Heheh looks good so far.

As for the chip, you should have no problems unloading it here or on FS/FT 🙂 , as many are seeking week 48s and 49s. Enable your PMs in your profile and you may get some offers for it.

Chizow, thanks. That's a good idea.

I can hardly concentrate here at work on anything but getting in deep with my new system. And I have a big presentation tomorrow!

cowdog, ya think i could get a deal on that 2100+?

Id just need to figure out what then to do with my 1800+ TbredA.

I think that 1.9 Ghz is better than most OCs ive seen for the TbredA's! Although I really doubt that this system is stable. Ive been running seti on and off, maybe 15 or so hours at a time (before bed until after school) and its perfectly stable, but when i run a game (Hitman 2 or SOF2) it seems to every few minutes, stick for like 3 seconds then come back. Otherwise ive been running for 8 days straight... I guess i should try Prime95. Torture Test, right?

Cowdog PM me about that CPU!

I am amazed no one bought a buch from newegg and pimped them on the FS/FT forums. Heck I almost bought 5 (1700+ T-bred B's) just so I could get a mixture and see if I ended up with at least 1 monster chip and sell the rest on the FS/FT forum. I just have so much school crap on my PC I just do not want to break my old 1.533ghz setup that is been stable for ages. but heck If I can get a winner chip I might just have to do a FULL backup and swap CPU's....

Thinking about buying the 2100+ Week 48 from PCNUT.com for $115. If it's hitting 2.4ghz like the other chips, I'd be plenty happy to keep it and sell my 2400+ 🙂

What do you think of this fan??

Could this get the job done on top of a HHC-001 with an adapter??

Plus, essentially i could get 3, one being free, and have the CPU one cranked all the way, the noise level will still be less than my HHC-001 w/60mm fan, then i can adjust the other 2 as case fans running a little slower.

Whadayathink?

In regards to the adapters, why does this adapter have 'vents' on it? it looks like its pushing air OUTSIDE the heatsink area, wtf?

Does this adapter look like what I need? Would it do a good job? I had the idea to cover the flat screw areas with a little bit of soft clay and mold it to slope with the rest of the molded plastic, so theres less resistance...

Anybody? Thoughts?

Still waiting for a reply on my previous post...

but another issue has come up. Newegg will let me exchange my TbredA 1800+ OEM for another one, but i think its gotta be before 02/06...

what are my chances of getting a 1800+ TbredB? And is it worth my hassle..

Dunno about the adapters, but as for the CPU, if you can go a week or so w/out one, go for it. Very good chance it'll be a B (I don't think anyone has gotten an A in some time), and it should do @ 2ghz, maybe more.
