$210 Sephora store credit... (edit: succesfully purchased/traded)

...would you buy it for $140 cash?

Trying to decide right now, it'd make a good belated birthday present for my sisters... 🙂

EDIT:

Just got back... the remaining balance in the account is $206.76, and I gave her $142 cash.

I checked with the Sephora store, and it's legit... good stuff. I think the girl who I bought it from might be some kind of drug addict, though... she was really anxious to get the cash and looked a little strung out. 🙁

Yes. Buy it no matter what. Even if you decide to get something else for your sister, you can eBay it for closer to $190.

Seriously? 😵 I don't have an eBay seller's account, but am surprised someone would pay more than that for a store credit.

To answer the other person, Sephora is a big makeup store. Sephora.com

Well people on eBay are stupid sometimes. I've seen GC sell for 5% under their given value. Also, my benchmark for a GC is 80%. Buying it for $168 would be 80% of the value, so buying it for $140 is a no brainer.

Okay, going to make the exchange right now then. 🙂

We're meeting at the Sephora store so I can make sure it's valid... I don't want to take any chances!

There are so many things to buy there...if she has a b/f, she can get some stuff for him too. I need some more Anthony's Logistics stuff...and Shiseido face wash. Too bad they don't care hair products.

In short...yes.

oh yeah i shoudl qualify that your sisters will love it as long as they're at least like 10 or 11 me thinks...that's the only real requirement

Geez!! 😵

That's a good benchmark you have...

Yep, they're 22 and 19, respectively. 🙂

So she could've used some makeup too, eh?

She was actually pretty cute, but had serious bags under her eyes and a sickly complexion. 🙁

Tomato,

You should use it/sell it ASAP. My friend bought a Saks gift card $700 for $600 and when he received it the balance was valid. 4 months later he went to use it only to find out it hand been cancelled. The card was either purchased with a stolen CC or the guy found out it hadn't been used and reported the card stolen. Either way, if he had used it as soon as he got it, he wouldn't be out $600. Just my five dollars.

Yikes!! Thank you for sharing that story, Kalbi... did he ever find out what happened?! How scary... 🙁 Maybe I should buy $206.76 worth of stuff and then return it for a store credit of my own... do you think that might work?

He used his AMEX and it was too late to do chargeback. 🙁

It's sounds like a plan but then there is a trail. Are you allowed to return something for store credit WITHOUT the receipt? If so sounds like a plan to me.

That's a good question. Higher end stores usually let you do that, and Sephora has its own brand of makeup... perhaps if I bought the Sephora brand and returned it soon afterwards. I'll call and ask about their return policy, just to make sure. Thanks so much for the info/suggestions!
