21 year old creates Va. Tech shooting game, put's it on the internet, and refuses to take it down

I heard about this on the radio this morning and had to follow up on it. This just makes me sick.

A 21-year-old Sydney man has created the first known computer game based on the recent shooting spree at Virginia Tech university in the US, sparking a wave of criticism. The game follows Cho Seung-hui?s killing spree at Virginia Tech in April, in which he killed 32 people before turning a gun on himself.

The game?s creator, Ryan Lambourn, who lives in Sydney?s west, says he won?t remove the game from his own website or seek to have it removed from amateur game sharing site Newgrounds.com.

Called V-Tech Rampage, the game can be freely downloaded from either site and has made headlines in Australia as well causing a stir on a number of blogs and online news sites around the world.

Mr Lambourn today backpedalled on previous demands for money in exchange for the game?s deletion, describing the ransom as a joke.

He had said on his website googumproduce.com that he would only remove V-Tech Rampage from the Newgrounds website if he received a $US1000 ($1,200) ?donation?.

For $US2,000 ($2400) he would remove it from his own website and for $US3,000 ($3600) he would apologise for the stunt.

What an enterprising tool. 😀

And a cheap sell-out.

Edit: Nevermind, article says the ransom was a "joke"

I'm trying to find a more credible source of information. They were talking about it on the radio this morning and they said it was not a joke and the little b@stard was serious.

Here: it seems as though the game website has suspended his account.

I saw a clip of the game on the news last night, and it looked pretty crappy.

Not sure what his aim is here - 15 minutes of fame? Maybe. But he won't be able to do anything with that fame with his (lack of) abilities.

$3000 isn't worth being known internationally as a jackass.

If people are so offended, they should find out some information about the guy and put him in a video game/comic/etc in a not-so-comfortable situation. IE, prison rape. 😛

Yea, thats what it sounded like to be; he just wants some popularity.

Word. At least Danny Ledonne has more than two brain cells to rub together. 😛

"I bet a lot of people from VT would kick the sh1t out of him for free."

I was thinking along those lines.Jets go to Sydney, sounds like a nice trip for say three or four large mobile youths from VT.

Congrats, this guy has just made a lot of enemies and for free!

Fail.

BINGO. The guy is a tool. He just wants to be inflammatory and tries to get a quick buck out of the frenzy that is happening now.

Someone should post info on him so next time someone is in Sydney, they can randomly walk up to the guy and punch him in the face. What a jerk.

jokes are supposed to be funny.

yeah this guy will probably get someone's boot up his ass and deservedly so.

I think the game is inappropriate, but amusing. Did anyone try it? Cho has all these rubber duckies in his room. LOL

Definately not cool but messed up, and also so inappropriate. That guy needs to be punished.

Being inappropriate or offensive is not a crime (at least in the US).

Of course, he's not a US citizen, and the laws may be somewhat different in Australia. But I'm pretty sure they still have free speech down there. Threatening to hurt the guy because he said or did something you think is offensive is pretty barbaric in itself.

It's a stupid publicity stunt, and hopefully it will backfire on him.

Remember when the internet wasn't a giant fscking daycare center. Honestly, I'm so tired of this, who gives a sh!t?

Edit: I said this thinking an actual news site was reporting on this.
