21" Sony G520P or a 17-18" LCD?

I'm leaning towards the crt due to the higher resolutions and no worries about dead pixels. But I want some opinions before I go and spend $600. And if you vote LCD give me a model or something that you like. Thanks!

I got the G520 to replace a 21" Dell that died. I love it!

I've got an older 21" sony tube (HP manufactured) P1110.

It's a great monitor, but it does take up the whole desk(half of it anyway).

the only other complaint is that it can take a small room from 75 degress to 85 when running (i've got mine to go to powersave after 3 mins.)

Get the Sony.

If you have the space get the Sony-- The refresh rates that thing can do are incredible.

+
No problems with colors
No pixel refresh problems
No problems with blacks
No problems with resolutions.

-
Takes up space.

I've had both, so I know what I'm talking about.

Not sure about the LCD question, I think you've got the sony CRT crowd, of course everyone who's got one will recommend it becasue they are some of the very best on the market.

btw you can usually pick up the sony for around 500 at dell when they have one of their 15 or 20% off sales.

if you try out the lcd first, you may like it because you have perfect pixels.
but if you do any gaming or photo work, they are lacking, because of what i mentioned before.

if your just surfing or a casual gamer then the lcd will be fine.

If you are a gamer, I can think of NO reason you'd want 2-3 less screen real estate.

Ok, I think I'll go with the Sony when I get around to ordering. Is $582 at newegg a good deal.. or is there any better?

Another concern for the 21" CRT you might want to consider is that it'll eat up more power than you can shake a stick at.

135 watts. The lights in my office eat up more.
