I need a bigger monitor but I'm trying to decide between buying a new 19" or a used 21". I've been looking at new 19" Hitachi SuperScans, but I know a couple of places where I can get a used Hitachi 21" for less (than a new 19") and they seem to be in good shape (2-3 yrs. old). Does anyone know anything about the Hitachi SuperScan Elite 802 or the Elite 801? Are these about the same as a Pro 800? Thank you.

I rather get a nice new 19", or a new but cheap 21". Explore your options. What exactly is your budget?

Check out the KDS AV-21tf for around 700 bucks. It's a 21 inch trinitron monitor. Great warrantee as well.

I too would go with a new monitor. I personally dont trust a 2nd hand monitor--warranty is shorter too.

My friends in the MIS department tell me that monitors regularly conk out after 3 years of use. I would go for a new one. Why take the chance?

Both the KDS AV-21TF and the Samsung 1200NF are available at Onvia.com, albeit with rather different prices.

KDS = $698
Samsung = $819

Both are still cheaper and _BETTER_ than Sony's G500 offering.
