The GOP has in the past and likely no doubt will be in the future the minority party. Illegals are already getting taxpayer-funded medical care, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
 
What most see as illegals, certain politicians see as votes. That's why there will never be immigration reform.

If you want real change in government, vote like it. Vote the big 2 parties out of congress and get some new people in there.

But my point is that it was not legalized in the Healthcare Bill nor will anyone sign on to it in the future.

I would also like to point up that President Obama has deported more illegal Aliens then Bush did in the same amount of time so I really don't think he would condone Illegal Aliens getting free healthcare either.

Whenever an illegal alien tries to use a public service and is determined to be an illegal alien they should be deported, no questions asked. Right now there are too many exemptions and tricks and that makes them think they might be able to stay. If there was a zero chance of success in staying after you were found it would drive down the demand to come.

Obama said he wont deport them as long as they arent causing problems, but some of us believe they cause constant problems and the government just doesnt wanna see it.

Well, i would say if you are in George and need Dialysis it should be free for anyone who needs it...paid by the state...Otherwise this is clearly an Equal Protection violation.

I'm not sure the racist card would work today. It might have some impact but today too many people are getting upset about the amount of illegal immigrants in the US and all the free shit they get. Ten or fifteen years ago I don't think SB 1070 would even get to of being voted on. Times are changing and I think we are at the breaking point for the majority of Americans.

In his day, he came here legally versus illegally. In his day there was no such thing as instant Medicaid for the birth of his children, and little to no social welfare programs that paid him or provided food stamps because he had several U.S. native born children. So the cost to local, state, and federal gov't was somewhat moot.

He and his wife also didn't have the vast variety of cheap, effective birth control that is available to everyone, TODAY.

You can't compare the immigration booms of the colonization period, and the early 1900's with the illegal border crossings and over stayed visas of today.

Do we need immigration to grow as a country? Hell yes. That said, the LEGAL immigration quotas need to be expanded and measures to limit illegal immigration expanded. Legal immigration quotas exist for a reason. They strike a balance between bringing in qualified immigrants and ensuring opportunity for your existing citizens. They also ensure that those qualified immigrants are not criminals in their homelands, previously a criminal here, have financial support ( ie; skills, education, job ) so that they are an asset to this country and not a net draw on society.

Can the child of an illegal become a doctor or at least a productive member of society? Sure... But when you cross the border illegally, and already in poverty, the future of any children you produce here is somewhat questionable and odds are against them.

Both parties want the latino vote. I honestly do not believe that big business wants illegal immigrant workers. Farms, owners of fast food franchises, and nursing homes among others certainly do. We already have a migrant worker program for farming that mostly works but could use expansion.

I digress. Original point stands though. Illegals are a huge net loss to our local economies and it takes generations to produce productive family units from the original migrant family stock.

Sure until some activist judge in california says they are covered. I don't see what is so hard or wrong about securing boarders. Take the troops home from Iraq and afganistan and put them on the boarder. Put 20000 troops on the boarder with some inteligence and boarder secured.

There is compassion. These illegals can fly back to Mexico right after a dialysis treatment. The hospital could even send them first class and come out way ahead.

And are you volunteering to help? I would probably fail out of medical school... so I pay a doctor to treat me. I cannot expect this doctor to go to school for a decade, get $150,000 in debt (avg med school grad debt) and expect him to work for free. Nor do I expect companies to research and develop kidney dialysis solutions and provide them for free.

How come you are not working for free?

Yes they are human beings... but human beings who came into this country illegally. How does that make the Filipino who spends years visiting the U.S. embassy to get a valid visa... only to see all these people skip the line? Give them a round of dialysis and deport them.

Kind of like the IRS not allowing illegals immigrant workers to receive child tax credits or earned income credit from the IRS? Yet they received over $4.5 billion from these tax returns last year.

Anyway.. DHS has granted millions of dollars to community health centers. These health centers to not offer care based on immigration status.. in other words they do not check. So you are telling me that illegal immigrants on good faith will not use these health centers that generally cater to migrant workers? And of course once an illegal immigrant has a child born within our borders.. instant obamacare. Now granted that child is legal... but overall a net loss to a system that the mother paid zero into.

How would it not when even asking someone to provide identification of citizenship in this country becomes a race issue ?

We have already tried to limit existing non-emergency social programs and it was ruled "unconstitutional" and thrown out.

I would love to have UHC, and expand our pathetic social safety net. I just dont see how we are going to be able to do that with our culture on this issue broken the way it is.

Actually, with rulings like this it doesn't look like it matters much anyway. People who break the law will be rewarded with UHC. The costs of course will be absorbed and make it even more expensive for our legitimate citizens
( ironically enough, dis-proportionally more so for the poor & minorities)
