21-29 was like lightning. How is 29-39?

It goes faster. It's way better though. Women hit their prime. You're not poor. The world is your oyster.

But on the other hand, you have responsibilities and you often have to swallow your pride and do things you know are dumb or wrong (technically, not ethically) at your job and have to deal with lots of idiots. You definitely will have more money and hopefully you would have good vacation time so you can explore the world.

As the last people give the obligatory "Happy bday bro!" on my Facebook, and I realize that 29 is basically 30.....and a single tear falls into a once-full glass of cabernet.....I have to wonder....

Anyone 39+ here? How was the leap from 29-39? Should I just give up on physical activity and personal appearance already? Start looking at AARP?

I am already showing the signs...I don't like any new mainstream music. I still say words like "sick" and "bad" to mean "good."

And there was a someone walking their dog on my lawn in front of my house, and I caught myself mentally wishing them to get off of it, because it is mine. :/

Input?

If you have kids, all the years go by fast. You just notice it more because your kids are a constant reminder of how fast things change. Live in the moment.

35, time flies. Shit, will be 36 in October. How the hell? How did we get to February? I just turned 35...kid #2 due in August.

It goes faster because when you dick around and don't get shit done, you realize you are running out of time to do so, both long-term (closer to death) and short-term (no time between work/marriage/kids/neffing).

As year #29 is drawing to a close I didn't notice a drastic difference between 29 and 25 in terms of how quickly the year went

There is much truth in that. I will, however, note that it seems random drunk women are less interested in letting you feel or motorboat their boobies compared to random drunk 19-27 girls. I miss those days :'(

A. It goes faster. I'm sure this is just perception, but I guess it's possible that my personal reference time-frame is in fact accelerating.

B. LOL at the sad faces. I'm 52, and guess what? It's a one-way trip, folks. Everyone starts the same place, and everyone ends the same place. So I never understood all the angst. It ought to be some comfort that your life will proceed along the same general path as the lives of the many billions of creatures who have lived and died before you. Enjoy it. Worrying about getting old is like stressing over the sun going down, or the planets revolving.

this thread makes me want to

which is why i don't understand the mentality people have to penny pinch their entire life to "save save save" every dime they earn, never having awesome experiences in your youth because they "couldnt afford it" while saving all their money instead.

gotta have balance and do both. it would suck to have $10 million in retirement but die at the age of 50 never having done anything.

29 - 39 went by very fast but it was the best 10 years so far and still getting better (42+ now). As others have said, having kids magnifies the effect of time accelerating. You can still learn and do new things though as that's entirely up to you.

Alanis Morrissette would call that ironic.

What are you talking about? How can you sit there and look me in the eye and tell that me you're not worried?! Don't you have any sense?!! Don't you have a brain!? Are you so completely senile that you don't know what you're talking about anymore!!?!

time passes more quickly as you age.

my hypothesis is that life is more boring, more repetitive so the days are less special and blend together. when you are young, everything is new and memorable. as you age things are more predictable.

i guess it depends on the type of lifestyle you live as well.

I turn 30 in a couple months. Honestly, 21-29 has kinda dragged on... but in a good way. 21 feels like 3 lifetimes ago. You just gotta live more, man!

My two tips for making life move slower:

1. Have "seasons". Maybe the climate has seasons where you live, maybe your job has seasonal changes, a hobby that you can only do at certain times of the year, etc. Seasons tend to make the year move more slowly since the days don't all feel the same.

2. Have something to look forward to. Remember how as a child it seemed like it took forever for Christmas to come around? Or being 14 and it seemed like forever until you could drive? Plan something for the future that you're really excited about and it won't come around nearly fast enough. A nice vacation, buying a vehicle you always wanted, etc.

These have worked for me. Basically, get out of your routine.

Here's what's weird. The more you do the faster time appears to go by. So if you have kids time flies. However when you sit down and talk to people who are doing less then it seems like time goes slow since they did nothing and you did tons in the same amount of time.

I'm 35. Had my first kid when I was 30. 2nd kid was a year ago. My life is a blur. Months literally vanish. I wake up going "WTF happened to January?"
