20yo Carjacker in St. Louis dies after being shot by victim

It's absolutely a huge crime - worse than you stated. The issue is valuing human life and putting it above property despite the huge crime.

I do put my time with my family above a lazy piece of shit criminal. We are only given so many hours in life to spend with family. To have them stolen because someone wants to take the easy way? yeah i value my family time far far more.

I go out and work for the items i NEED and want. I do not expect handouts. I do not steal.

My third objection to your post is that your attitude leads criminals to have no reason NOT to just kill people when they carjack. If this guy had, he'd be alive now.

I share your objection.

I haven't (yet) armed myself because it seems a majority of criminals aren't out to simply kill people. I want it to stay that way. I'm not interested in the complexity of life that comes with weapons and potentially killing to defend property and the legalities of it all. It's far simpler to defend against property crime by sending a check to my insurance agent.

Take the car, there's some weed and a couple $20's in the console if you want it, tank's full too. You go your way, I gotta go feed my cat.

i personally wouldn't shoot someone carjacking me, if they went about it nicely

but i don't really have a problem with someone else shooting their carjacker. carjackers deserve everything they get.

and it's not like these carjackers were boyscouts - the dudes started shooting back at the guy who got carjacked.

and the people defending a carjackers' right to steal a car without getting shot at... smh

I don't feel bad for the guy, but at the same time It's kind of fucked up to kill someone over a car.

"The victim got out of his truck and the suspect got inside."

It sounds like he didn't even shoot to protect his truck or himself. He was just mad and felt like killing someone.

If someone came to my window and attempted to get into my car then I'd certainly use lethal force to protect myself. I have no way of knowing if they have a knife or gun. If I was already out of the vehicle and he was leaving then I would never fire off at a car. That endangers the neighborhood and is no different than any other type of shoot out that ends up killing kids or innocent by standers. If he did fire off outside of the vehicle after he was no longer in physical danger then that changes the story.

I know I'm old school, but tats are trashy, particularly neck and facial tats...

That's the dead, alleged carjacker, btw...

This.

I think that was the story from the beginning.

Did the "victim" have a legally acquired gun and a CCW permit? Or was this a case of one thug jacking another and an ensuing gun battle in the middle the streets?

To me, that's irrelevant. A carjacker thug piece of shit got killed committing a felony and the world is a better place. I don't care if the person that killed him was another thug, an off-duty cop or a nun. He's dead, good riddance.

It's up to the evidence and jury as to whether it was self defense, or retaliation.
I'm sure it could be argued that the carjacker could have used the car against him (ran over victim).

There have been many cases of shooting robbers in the back and the shooter is charged with murder.
It's not always a clear cut case.

IF I were a jury member, I really wouldn't give a shit what happened to the carjackers. They brought it on themselves.

You gotta love all the moral-less libtards coming out from the woodwork. "Quick let's play the race and environmental factor card, only black people in this whole world has a poverty problem. Who cares about those poors who choose not to commit crime? Clearly they don't exist."

QFT
It summarizes why I no longer carry.

The poors who choose not to steal cars don't get gunned down when stealing cars. See how that works?

LOL, this is awesome and perfectly summarizes why I haven't bought a gun...

Yet. 🙁 People sure do suck sometimes...

Apropos of nothing, what kind of car is it and where are you going to be Sunday afternoon around three? I'm uh, asking for a friend.

It's a silver 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback base model with a stick, 7500 miles.

It's a fantastic little city car but I'm looking to upgrade. Your friend better not work for State Farm.

You might get shot if the carjacker don't know how to drive stick...

That's why I carry the weed. 🙂

Seriously, nothing deescalates like sparking up a fatty with the antagonist.
