My local Kmart (North Haven, CT) has 20lbs of Russet potatoes for $0.99! Bins and bins of them are available. Though I was tempted by the 2lb bag for $3 and 10lb bag for $5, I went with the big one... Gonna learn how to make fries this week (and mashed potatoes, and au gratin potatoes, and...)

Could be a good deal for those with large families or starving students... :)

best mashed spuds EVER

5 lbs spuds - peeled, halved and simmered in water for 45-55 min (until fork tender)

1 entire head of garlic - splash of olive oil on top, wrapped in aluminum foil - bake in oven at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes

mash the spuds
squeeze the roasted garlic out into a bowl with one tablespoon coarse sea salt, half a stick of butter, one cup of heavy cream - mash the mixture up well

mash garlic/cream/butter/salt mixture with spuds - add more cream or milk to reach the consistency you like

absolute heaven (very bad for your health however - like most really tasty treats)

serves 4-6

No spud can compare to one grown here in Idaho. They are massive.

Forget skinning!

-Start pan full of bacon

-Give potatoes a quick rinse and run'em through a cheese grater.

-Remove bacon, pour a little grease into another pan.

-Toss shredded spuds into hot grease.

-Start coffee.

-Cook eggs in second pan.

-Add salt & pepper to taste.

-Plate it up.

-Enjoy! With ketchup.

Now if these just came with a bag of Kathy Ireland, we'd be in business.

Lets see... so if I put up a Dutch auction (Dutch potatoes!) on Ebay for 50 of the potatoes, starting bid at $0.05 cents each, I'd make $1.51! Of course then there are Ebay fees and Paypal fees... How much should I charge for shipping? ;)

If only they had this deal during Halloween, I could've given out spuds instead of snickers! :)

hmm, I think he's trying to drum up some business

hey! have a cigarette after dinner too!

i'm a libertarian

it's your health to do with as you please

preserve the right of every geek to choose (fat/sugar/salt)!

and yes..it is good for business - but it is very tasty
