Best one under $300 I think. I wish I had waited a couple months and got it instead of this 19" widescren viewsonic. Now I am stuck with it for the next year or 2. I am happy with it but sometimes I look at it and wish I went with a 20'1". Of course at the time I didn't have the funds to go bigger and the crappy 19" KDS was killing me.

1600x1200 you need a 4:3 LCD, not a widescreen model.

My favorite is either the Samsung 204B or a Dell 2007FP.

What type of panel is that? Any comparisons of it to the viewsonic vx2025?
Another recommendation would be the samsung 215tw for $300 AR @ Office depot. $100 rebate, but for the 2nd best 20" monitor, it's a steal.

I'm happy with my 2007FPs now that I have the newer revision and I ended up spending less than $300 on them. I don't see a good price on them now though for you :(

ace, changing your avy had me a little confused there :)

Anyway, I'm not sure how Sceptre stacks up. But here is reviews on a similar monitor to the one I linked.

hey, read my sig, first line. Just paying my dues. :D
Hmmm... looks like the 20" model is pretty good, very similar to the cheaper benq 20" ws. I'm leaning toward the benq because sceptre is one fo the "famous brands" @ tigerdirect and that pretty much means they're knockoffs. I'll do a little research on reviews.

IMO, sometimes monitors are brighter or more clear then others. But ultimately, you will get used to whatever LCD you buy, and how it looks. If it looks amazing or hardly notable, you wont notice how dark/bright it is everytime you sit down at the keyboard. BTW, who is this 'dug777'?

Great example of your statement is the NEC 20wmgx2. It (and others in the gx2 series) has a glossy screen that enhances the contrast and clarity (and glare). The brightness is 400nits and the contrast is 1000:1 but it looks vastly superior to other panels because of the screen finish.
BTW, dug is hilarious. He's been a member for 2yrs and got the boot for making fun of Goku. It was a pretty funny joke actually. I laughed, then saw the mod's response, laughed some more and then said... oh, wait, he's gone? He had something like 26000 posts.

EDIT: We all changed our avatars to the crap in his support. See also, my quirky sig.

The Nec is a good monitor, in my opinion. I used to have one and it never caused me any problems. :)
