2048x1536 Gaming CRT 21"+

Currently I have an IBM P260 21" Flat CRT. It will only do 1600x1200@85hz. I'm not saying it's bad, because it's not, I'm just looking for one that will do 2048x1536@85hz(or close to it). Any suggestions?? I was looking at the IBM C220p but I can only find refurbished ones and they're still around $600!? This is more than it retails for but it got great reviews and I would really like to find one. Just want to make the GTX's work a little harder. 😉 Thanks for the help.

I like my IBM 23" P202 crt 🙂. Works very well for gaming even though its atleast 5 years old. So I dont know if it gets to 20x15 but all I would need to do is find the box, and a referibshed one is like $100 now

Edit: It does work at 20x15 but you have to move the mouse over the screen to a side to scroll over there... I guess 20x15 is really big

The Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB does 2048x1536 at 85hz. This and the superbright mode combine to make a really kickass monitor, but only if you get a fully working and properly calibrated one, which is unfortunately rare these days with new ones due to all the quality control reduction with CRTs.

Just curious why you want such high resolution? my 21" Sony G520P can do 2048x1536@75hz but ive been running it 1600x1200 since I bought it. Text is to small at 2048x

7800GTX SLI 😉

My Dell P1130 does 2048x1536@85Hz. I'm sure the Compaq/HP clones also will do the same. They all have the same tube, but electronics might be different.

NEC was showing a 2048x1536 LCD at Siggraph last week. It was a test sample; they were trying to guage market reaction to determine whether or not it is viable. The soonest it would come to market would be next spring. I do not know how it would be at gaming though...

-Gaming will look better at that res, generaly, the higher, the better.

-He is running SLI GTX's and it can handle 2048x just fine, probably with AA/AF.

Considering a single GTX is bottlenecked up to 1600x, two in SLI should handle it no problem.

Yeah, I was looking at those on ebay. So it does 2048x1536 out of the box?? How does it look at that resolution?? I set my P260 to 2048x1536@72hz and wasn't very impressed. If that P1130 in any good I'll have to pick one up. 🙂 Thanks again...

Well I only have a lowly 6800GT so I've never tried gaming at that resolution. In fact, I mostly game below 1600x1200, except on old titles such as Quake 3. I run my desktop at 1600x1200@85Hz and it looks ok. Even then, I belive I'm reaching the limits of the monitor electronics because 60Hz looks noticably sharper than 60Hz. Of course, 60Hz is also unbearable. Since I got it refurbished, it's the pick of the draw really. I had to RMA a previous P1130 since it was damaged upon arrival(cracked plastic chassis, power button wouldn't stay on). The replacement was good physically, but the picture quality of the first one was actually better than the replacement.

ok, I'm looking at a IIYAMA Vision Master Pro 514...

Their site says it will do 2048x1536@85hz, 1800x1440@94hz, and 1600x1200@113hz. Looks nice...wish it came in black though.

I think that one is basically a clone of the Mitsubishi one I mentioned earlier, with the same tube and electronics. The NEC FP2141 and the LaCie Electron 4 are also the same monitor on the inside (the NEC in fact also has the same exterior).

I have the same card and several older games work well on 2048. Although new stuff is pretty much limited to 1280x960.

Check out azatek.com for the IMB P260 which can go 1920x1440@75Hz or NEC FE1250+ which does 1920x1440@73Hz. Either is only $200 shipped! (1920x1440 has only 10% less pixels than 2048x1536, nothing you'd notice.)

I just might pick this up.

Got a link?

here

EDIT: I did some more searching and from the looks of it, it is a screen from 2003 and is discontinued everywhere.
