Last year the streaming deals started in early November, but nothing until today. I have a sneaking suspicion that (imminent) industry consolidation is going to kill some of the deals we've gotten used to.

AFAIK the only deal right now is STARZ, $12 for one year. Hopefully we'll get some more options over the next week. (Amazon Prime and Roku are almost certain to float out their seasonal 1 to 2 month trial offerings.)

It's cheaper than getting it separately, 2.50/mo for AMC+ and 2.25/mo for Acorn.
Just two month though. Gives me time to catch up on a lot of the shows I've missed the past year.

If you have a Paypal account, check under the Rewards section of your account. You may or may not have an offer for 30% cash back if you pay for a streaming service via Paypal. You have to click and save the offer in order to be able to use it.

You then convert the rewards to points and then to cash, up to $70 back.

According to my Paypal account, that offer (if you have it) is still good for the next 10 days or until they receive max redemptions.

  • Eligible Streaming Services (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Peacock, Paramount TV, Sling TV)
  • Combined Max of 200K rewards (worth up to 7,000 points/$70.00)
  • Offer expires 11/30/25 or until we reach max reward available per merchants, whichever comes first

If you have a Paypal account, I added a post to the other streaming thread about a potential 30% back offer from Paypal related to using Paypal to pay for a streaming subscription.

I normally cancel the auto renewal on my Walmart+ subscription a week to 10 days before it is scheduled to renew. The last two years when I did this, Walmart has immediately offered to renew me at the $49 price.

Of course, YMMV.

Frndly TV deal for new subscribers. 3-Month Frndly TV Streaming Service Plan for $0.99 per month. Normal plan prices are $7, $8 or $10 per month.

First I've heard of this service. You get over 50 channels.

HBO Max ad-tier is $3/mo , with a catch. You must pay via Apple (there is a separate deal via Amazon). YMMV
I'm not sure how this works since I don't have a current CC on my Apple ID. It looks like maybe I had a $3 credit balance on my Apple account and it used that.
The iPad app also wants to know my DOB and gender. SMDH

My HBO Max sub ended in Sept. When I log into my account on hbomax.com I can see the $2.99 Basic with Ads deal. No idea if a special payment is needed as I'm still debating on if I want HBO. Plus ads really suck when watching a movie.

The deal ends on Dec. 1st.

That makes sense! It was some type of phased rollout which hit the iOS app first, apparently.

Usually I'm patient and would have just waited, but I signed up last night to lock in the deal. I don't do much within the Apple ecosystem besides using an iPad, but I should be able to buy a discounted Apple GC which will apply to this monthly subscription. (If not, $36 for a year is pretty reasonable IMHO.)

Personally I don't mind ads too much. I like how Peacock does it; a long 3 minute ad at the beginning of the feature film. Then another 2 minute ad in the middle. Still want to see a new deal for Peacock premium since the winter Olympic games are in 2 months.

Not surprisingly, Disney+ has jacked up their promo to $5/month. I'll probably pass.

Yea, Hulu and D+ for $3/mth was OK. For $5, it's not worth it. Just watched a few times other than SW Andor.

This HBO 2.99/mo for a year deal finally showed up in my Amazon prime account.
I jumped on it as I've gone without HBO for several years.

Looks like a lot for me to watch.

Now I didn't see any BF deals on Paramount plus until today.
It's short term. 2.99 for 2 months. It's the premium version, no ads plus showtime.
I was just trying to get caught up with two shows that will end before the two months are up.
So it's worth the 6.00 to me.

The deal is showing up on Paramounts website.

@Lanyap @manly

To your knowledge; do Starz, Hulu or D+ offer a retention discount if you initiate the cancel process?
I let my Hulu promo expire a few months ago. I wasn't using it much, so I purposely let it lapse.*
In September, they emailed me a retention discount: $2.99/mo for 6 months. I didn't accept it then, but am re-considering it now. There's no mention of Disney+, so does that mean I won't have access to the huge Disney library? I could have sworn everyone is saying that Disney is killing off standalone Hulu soon, if they haven't done already.

I don't plan on doing the Disney+/Hulu basic bundle for $5, but it'd be worth $3 to me. Note the offer came with a unique promo code, and the expiration is suspicious: 12/10/2026. I assume they mean 2025.

* RIP Citi VAN. Citi Cards neutered their Virtual Account Numbers a couple months ago.

Edit:
I think it's only Hulu (with ads) for $3. Meh

what changed with citi van?
It still exists, but they removed the features that made it great:

  1. Custom expiration date
  2. Custom charge limit
Although you can still set a charge limit, there are but a few pre-canned options ($25, $50, $100, $300). And unlike before, you can't change these values.

The old Citi VAN was great because you could make sure that merchants do not over-charge you; or you could easily end a monthly sub at any time by simply changing the expiration.
