I wish the NFL and NCAA would stop having championship games on the nights before most people have to work. Move the Super Bowl and CFP championship to Saturday

At least the Super Bowl typically starts around 6:30 EST so the game usually ends around 10.

Super Bowl Sunday is a rock-solid institution. Moving it to Saturday is a terrible idea.

It does run very long, so I wouldn't object if the start time was bumped to say 5 p.m. ET.

I suppose the CFP champ game is on Monday night to avoid the NFL playoffs.

I think 6:30 is chosen so it will cover the entire TV prime time window in the Eastern Time Zone.

I mean, of course I know that the ACC is a garbage football conference, I grew up in it. Only Florida State ever made them relevant when they joined, and then not really. It was just FSU for so long and an annually overrated UNC that was always, and remains, hot garbage.

Clemson had their years of course. But whoever it is I do like seeing the arguments go about who belongs and who doesn't, then seeing those that "belong" get stomped by those that don't. College football is generally more predictable though, so it is a bit unusual to see things go against the norm in this way.

Miami was really good in the 80s. And Virginia Tech had their run there with Beamer and especially Vick.

Why not? They have enough bowls now to cover it. I'd like to see at least 16.
It's not the number of bowls, it's the scheduling. the football season can only last so long and college still has some modicum of restrictions for how many weeks you can extend that to what they still consider "student athletes."

I'm not a CFB junkie so more CFP games is dilutive and doesn't add anything for me. This year, the Tulane and JMU games were already unnecessary. A 16-team playoff field is sensible, but not because I actually care for four more contestants. Any more than 16 is just a money grab.
Just like when they added the "First 4" games to the men's basketball tournament.

LOL nobody cares about that anymore. CFB is a pro league and for some QBs it's more lucrative than the NFL.
Ole Miss's QB1 is appealing for a 6th year of eligibility because he can make millions there next season, but otherwise grades out to be a 3rd day selection in the NFL draft.
I believe Miami's Carson Beck recently said he has no classes at the U, because he got his degree from Georgia 2 years ago? 🤣
At what point do fans say who cares if these players are "students" at all? Remember when it was considered weird that Chris Weinke was an old dude for FSU, winning the Heisman at age 28?

Wait, the championship game is on cable (ESPN) exclusively?!?!
It's been that way for at least a decade.

That’s some bullshit. Casual fan here, so I guess I won’t be casual any longer. IU is a couple hours up the road from here and the locals are pumped .

have fun at a bar!
I don't think I've ever rooted for IU in anything, but I will tonight. Just one win away from completing the greatest Cinderella story in CFB history.
(If I understand correctly, the only comparable in major team sports was when Leicester City won EPL a decade ago.)

I looked it up, IU was +10000 to win the natty in the preseason. A year ago, +100000 lol.

My Roku flashed an ad; hate giving Disney any money but some people would pay $5 to watch the final in the comfort of their own home:

OMG!!! I found an online feed of the game around 20 after 7 PM. This crew of clowns presenting the preshow on ESPN are almost unwatchable!

So far this feels like it's going to be a brutal game. Buy some Icy Hot stock tonight.
