Not going to read thru all this to see if this was already posted. But i guess some prominent GOP are floating the idea of raising the voting age. What a bunch of sore losers.

That would require a constitutional amendment to repeal the 26th amendment.

Ain't gonna happen. It's a conservative circle jerk.

I completely agree with you. What Biden has been able to accomplish is amazing given everything he is up against. But for some reason, that message just doesn't stick. Part of the problem is that things like infrastructure take a long time to actually happen, and people are stupid, so even if their commute is improved by 10 minutes a day they'll still say stuff like "Infrastructure bill? I still have a pothole in my neighborhood, it didn't do shit."

I am not sure how you get people to look past their nose and remember the past for longer than a few weeks.

An observation: if absolutely every last person only voted on strict self-interest, the repugs would have been gone a long time ago. But, for example, they've got these people "concerned" about immigrants coming into states they don't live in, and allegedly taking jobs that aren't theres. What I've noticed is that with some voters, when they look past their nose, they see things that aren't there.

Sounds a lot like "fixing". ;)
Not exactly. Camden actually disbanded its old police force and replaced it wholesale. So it was a model for "defund the police." I realize the slogan sounds dumb as fuck, but nobody was actually saying take away the police and do not replace it with anything. Minorities were just pissed off at the way they've been treated, and wanted substantive change. But obviously the messaging got severely warped by the GOP. Let's face it, the fascists are pretty good at bullshit culture wars. :tearsofjoy: :rage:

Don't worry, they'll make up a lawsuit to go to the Supreme Court to rubber stamp that there was a flaw in the ratification by one of the southern states on the 26th amendment, and it will be deemed now null and void, resetting the voting age determination back to the states. (don't put any interpretation as too far out of bounds if the republicans want it from this Supreme Court)

Maybe it did get warped by the GOP, but it was a horrible slogan to begin with. The reps are bad enough distorting things to fit their agenda, but it was stupid in the extreme to hand them on a silver platter something so easy to exploit.

OK some guy's opinion. But so what? It doesnt benefit any party.

In case you don't know Beau, he's very knowledgeable in the subject matter.

And even though it won't happen (as he says in the video), it would definitely help the conservatives. A big part of the reason there was no red wave this election is because of young voter turnout.

It was especially uphill battle for Obama because of his "being black." The right wanted to make this clear to everybody. Obama's commitment to implementing TACA is majorly to his credit. Of course, it was not going to move the whole mountain of the entrenched healthcare industry in America. That was too much work for one president. He's well loved globally. What other American president in the last 1/2 century can you say that about? Crickets.
Yeah, just to be clear, my opinion has drastically changed. The ACA was huge, even if it took half a decade to become evident.

Might not need the GA outcome to determine Senate majority if this trend continues.
This was a given since the county was D leaning. Only way they could have lost is if many made mistakes on their ballot. Well there still military votes

Nevada was looking scary. AZ's got to be in the bag at this point.

Clark just posted more ballots. CCM within 800 votes of Laxalt.
Yeah I was wrong a day or so ago, thinking drop-off ballots would somewhat resemble the already counted ballots. With the 2 populous counties trending big for CCM, it's looking pretty good for her chances.

Sisolak closes the gap to 21k, which is probably a bit too much to overcome.

Hobbs ahead by 26k is also encouraging.

If Lombardo is the worst of the damage here I can definitely live with that. Legislature is in the drivers seat anyway.

He pulled it off, and had too imo. That was his rationale for POTUS, not bc he was young, hip or exciting.

He is a DC insider, master of the Senate and WH, someone with deep relationships and can get shit done.

Shit was indeed done.

Next up tho he needs to come up for a rationale for the second term. Just holding down the fort against R investigations and senility won't cut it.

Otherwise, be like P Manning and retire on a high note. Don't be Brady, hold on to long and loose your wife

Don't see that last part. Brady at 45 is still a much better QB than Manning was at 39.

It's why you have to pick your sources with care. Garbage in, garbage out.

Gotta say, so far, this thread is quite rocking. Even the people I block don't seem to have been carpet bombing with caca.

Cortez Masto now within 798 votes of Laxalt with about 72,390 ballots left to count. Washoe accounts for about 26,500 of those and Clark about 34,080. Cortez Masto leading Washoe 50.1 to 47.2 and Clark 52.0 to 45.1, with the mail ballots trending way more in Cortez Masto's direction that the total vote count in each of the two counties. Rest of NV seems to be about 11,810 ballots.

This new dump also seems to have hugely boosted Cortez Marco on the betting markets.

EDIT: None of those numbers count cures and provisionals though.

-Enter the Supreme Court: Well the founding fathers never had the 26th Amendment to the constitution in the constitution and therefore we're going with 'every Amendment besides the second amendment is void'

Point is that although you hear plenty of strident voices calling for "police reform" those same voices usually have no realistic ideas to actually IMPROVE anything. (just like the far-right with inflation)

Take away the police in YOUR city if you really want too and let me know how that works out for you.

Suggestion to take the police out of being the first responders to folks dealing with mental health issues, which is what was suggested in Seattle.

You read like Sarah Palin.

A little less than half of the remaining NV rural votes just came in and only padded Laxalt's lead to 1951 votes. From Washington Post's tracker looks like about 6350 rural votes left, 26500 Washoe votes left, and 34100 Clark votes left to count.
