Well if you have a gpu already really isn't so bad, but if you had been waiting 6 years to upgrade then ya it's super annoying and why not just bite the bullet pay 300$ extra and get a 3070 since it's a kick ass card and you spend that much on a tone lobster dinner anyway.. better to play for a few years then wait for 200$ price drop
I have a 1080 Ti (and 970) I wanted to upgrade. Looking to go 4K/120Hz+ , so I was looking at 6800XT or RTX 3080. I refuse to pay more than $800-$850, so my entertainment budget has been going to other activities like music, movies, bowling, etc.

I wouldn't mind 3070 for 800. U can sell the 1080 ti for a fortune and make up for some of it. I'd give you 4oo for it ;)

Son's itchy credit card fingers seem to have jumped on a very meh not a deal. Video says its a Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB , but near as I can find out that means two fans.
Seems awful pricey, just for the looks. And yes, that's the model of that Asus card, the "Dual". It's not two cards. (They're decent, if a bit large. I have one, it's like a 2.75-slot model.)

When the dust settled and things went out of stock, ended up with this NUC https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali589/p/N82E16883360224

Its the size of a shoebox, something a bit less than $2k (for the whole prebuilt system), and no I was not real pleased with it. OTOH his system was giving us problems that was driving our gaming group nuts.

Yeah, that’s a premium for the compact size. $2k prebuilt should be more like 3070ti territory imo, but that’s probably a bunch of cheap crap around a GPU.

But hopefully it works great and hopefully it’s an upgrade that just works! I am going to trust Intel at least had their stuff together on this. I very fondly remember the old Intel Extreme motherboards. Maybe not the most tweakable but solid and feature rich. I am still using the mousepad that came with the final model!
