For what it's worth - all it would have taken for me to look like the fool here is for them to release a small bunker.

You don't need our help for that ... you're doing a good job on your own.

Released a 20k WU bunker for you, project is issuing work again so I guess you'll be happy now.

Bryan, thanks.

While it is less than what the regular users and the remaining FB vacuum cleaners are requesting currently, obviously, it should still help the project to make progress.

On a related note, I am now noticing that I possibly overestimated the portion of speculative bunker builders: Boincstats' credits/day at ODLK show that there were still enough tasks in active circulation recently to keep the project's PPD at about half or a third of the level it had before the toilet paper rush. (The picture from this record is incomplete though because the current state hasn't reached a steady level.)

[PS, the computers which I had at ODLK myself for marathon purposes were switched away from ODLK as soon as I noticed that the work generator no longer kept up.]

It looks like there are still people sucking up WU. What became available after my dump is now gone.

Perhaps a mixture of the hosts of long-term users which are occasionally polling for new work, and hosts of FB participants who were panicking that there could be an FB sprint there soon and have (how shall I say it) naively written scripts running at it now.

On the first part, maybe, you're entitled to your opinion.

On the second part, I genuinely do appreciate it and I'm sure the project scientist and project administrator do as well. I can't speak to what others do, but I just double checked and after uploading the last 100 or so tasks I had I'm not holding any ODLK tasks. Even if it's back out of work again at least it got some work processing and some tasks moving.

The team voting for sprint projects is hilarious.

NumberFields@home2
ODLK11
Seti@home1
Enigma@home1
Cosmology@home1
I suppose Sébastien performed a sanity check and selected the second most popular project as the fallback.

I wonder if he picked NumberFields specifically because those few people have been hammering the project so much.. Or maybe the ODLK project admin asked him not to pick her?

I still think it's silly that he hasn't removed Seti and Enigma from the voting options. And even more silly that someone keeps voting for them.

Last year he wrote somewhere that he performs some checks before he gives the go for a sprint, but wasn't more specific about these checks. It's reasonably to assume that he checks server_status, and we know how that looked at ODLK lately. Besides, he may have easily seen the related discussion. At rare occasions, he posts in the LAF forum, for instance.

On the other hand, we know that Sébastien still does not approach the project admins, or at least he did not do so up to and including the RakeSearch sprint.

Off topic, but this thread needs a laugh.

My daughter got married recently. I met this dude TWICE before the following:

He TEXTED me, asking for my daughters hand in marriage.

"Uhm, dude, why do you only want her hand? She is a total package, you have to take all of her."

10 minutes, no response

"Can you get it done in 30 days? I have another offer on the table, and he offering $1500 cash, a 1986 Honda 4-wheeler, and a baby goat."

30 minutes, no response

"Hey man, I am serious....I really like that baby goat, he calls me 'da da da da ddddy.' "

LOL, he thought he HAD THE WRONG NUMBER!!!!!!!!

Numberfields, eh? NFS is sooo much easier to bunker.
There is (currently) a limit on tasks in progress of 24 CPU tasks per active CPU. I didn't notice until now because I fetched work with computers with 44 or more active CPUs. (Also, my CPUs are so slow that 24 tasks per CPU get me through more than a day easily.)

Furthermore, our Pentathlon tech info on NumberFields says that there is a limit of 200 GPU tasks in progress per GPU.

I noticed that CPU task limit last night while trying to get more work (I ran out again). It certainly wasn't in place at the beginning of the week, and makes bunkering almost impossible...

I hit a limit earlier this week that gave me about two days worth, but last night on a new VM I couldn't get more than 1 task per core before getting a message that I had reached the limit for tasks in progress.

Thanks for the stats, OrangeKid!

That was a beautiful start to the race. TSBT and XS are both slowly gaining on us, but hopefully we have enough to stay ahead for two more days. :)

Aaaarrgg. They are both nipping our heels, already. I hate being chased (but more-so hate being caught and out-ran.)

Oz, y'all using AWS/Google credits? An amazing overtake...especially as it seemed your team was concentrating on..... a different (that which shall not be named) project. Well done Sir(s). Of course I notice that rascally xii5ku fella is absent from the day 1 stats... Hmmmm, you might ought to invest in some cloud for sure, you know how he likes to drop nukes after the armistice and surrender has already been signed... (I figure if I can talk y'all into spending some cloud funds, I have a better chance at snagging an AMD 5000 series CPU :p )
