Does the R and Type-R stand for Ricer?

I think that's what I hate most about it - it looks like they've partnered up with wings west and riced them all out from the factory.

Now aftermarket manufacturers will have to do body kits and bumpers to make it look clean instead of aggro.

Every year car enthusiasts are surprised that everyone else buys cars they would not. Nobody makes a v8 shooting brake styled like a 250swb and costs 40k for good reason.

I had to go back to see if you were joking. LOL!

The external speaker grills on the four corners tell me that the ricer generation is getting older. You can still have your boom car w/o having to damage your own hearing.

As much as I like the styling of the mid 90's era Civics they are simply too bland to sell currently.

I remember my cousin had a '90 or '91 Civic hatch and literally the design is timeless in it's simplicity and efficiency.

I assume you have only seen the lowest model Civic or something, because I would hardly call the 2016+ Civic bland in any respect aside from the growing popularity causing greater numbers on the road. It's cool if you think that, but I don't get it. I am also biased AF: I have a beautiful coupe with some factory exterior upgrades that is mildly modded.

I foresee a lot of granny shifting and not double clutching like he should...

Ugh, yeah the hatchback Civic is hideous (I do like that brushed finish though). I really don't like the side glass, the little kink into the tear drop. So terrible. Here, look at that little "outlet" next to the big fake grilles on the rear bumper. So much extraneous junk pieces.

I hate cars with all the awful massive fake "grilles" (where its just black plastic and isn't an actual opening). Its why I've never been fond of the Audio R8, feels like they needed to tweak those openings a bit and it would look so much better). Same with the whale mouths on newer Lexus and Toyotas (and plenty of others). Weirdly, I've grown to like the sorta chrome one on the Avalon. It does a decent job of hiding how closed it is (compared to those big black plastic pieces where you can see its just a mesh texturing). Speaking of, I also hate the new Mercedes ones where the 3 pointed star looks like a big cheap plastic piece (it even lights up, which the plastic covering makes look terrible, where 3 small LEDs at each point on an open star would've been ok, but now its a big glossy plastic maybe glass piece, with like a "starlit" LED background where they add a bunch of LEDs to the backing part of the grille; Mercedes gets a lot right, but they have some really chintzy parts right now and sadly it seems like they intend on going full blown with the chintzy stuff on their EVs).

You know, I'm probably one of the few who likes the new Honda Civic redesign. In person, I think it looks great, especially in the right color:

I also really liked the new Mazda 3 hatch in photos, up until I saw it in person & changed my mind. imo the 6 (especially in Mazda's great red) looks way better in person than the 3 does.

This Honda hatchback looks like they slapped a Transformer design onto it. Not a fan. But then again, some cars look better in person & some look worse...

Yeah, not a fan of the current Mazda 3, the previous ones were better balanced. Has way too long of a nose and makes the proportions wrong. It also screws up the flow of the lines (look at the little kink about halfway through the bottom of the front sideglass, and then the little kink at the top of the backseat glass because they didn't let the overall shape of the roof flow like it should. They truncated the rear of the roof too much (which also likely hurt utility as it cuts interior space a bit). Looks like they just slapped the Mazda 6 front end on a small car (which was already pushing it for how far the front end is, but the rest of it works so much better because it has the size to offer proper proportions to balance it). The wheels/tires don't do it any favors in that pic either. I think that's why the crossover/SUVs using the same style look better balanced, too.

The new Accord is...I'm not sure. It looks good from some angles, but weird possibly bad from others. Some angles the hood looks long and then the roofline looks ridiculously longer still. And that big chrome beak/sorta bucktooth/mustache thing going on. Speaking of beak, the new Camry, I'm actually liking (looks weird for sure though and could understand people that hate it), but that big plastic beak surrounding the Toyota logo on the front looks bad to me. Quite a few cars have a similar issue (not a beak, but where they have the hood end well before the front of the grille, so you end up with several inches of piece that looks like the hood, sitting over the grille, and then the line between it and the hood; from what I undersand its done for aerodynamics as the space between the hood and the grille was a place where air would catch and cause some drag, but other cars have a better way of managing it, for instance, I rather like how Chevy does it on the Impala and Camaro, Mercedes is another one that does it well on their newest designs like the AMG GT and new S class/coupe; Mazda is one I don't like as its just like a big body color piece that kinda breaks the lines of the front end/hood).

See how the hood looks long but then the roofline looks almost silly long? And the beltline looks awkward (goes from concave to convex over the front wheel) and highlights the length in this angle.

This looks better. I don't even mind the weird teardrop kink of the sideglass/accent here. That beltline also looks way better.

And here's the new Camry (this is the sporty looking one, there's an alternate one that has the big whale like baleen strakes for the grille like the Avalon

It's like they rolled the ugly of the Crosstour in with the angles of the new Civic. If anything that one NEEDS a beak lol. It's like the RDX's nose fell off and left an uggo grill on the front.

I personally like the Accord, at least as far as new designs go. The grille will take some getting used to, but it isn't like Toyota's hideous maw.

I expect the curved line that runs from nose to tail just under the windows is there to avoid the appearance of having tiny windows, as all cars seem to today. It's probably for safety reasons, but I miss the more open cabins of yesteryear:

The new Accord needs a lifted wagon/AWD variant like the Outback. That thing his all the marks and looks pretty decent.

The civic is horrifyingly terrible from the rear.

I loved 4th gen. Honda got it almost perfect. The big greenhouse is awesome. It's on of the best features of our Forester too. Excellent visibility all around.
