That kind of lunacy is prevalent in all American sports. Terrell Davis has 4 good seasons and quite a few bad ones after, but Broncos fans still clamor about him being in the HoF.

'good' doesn't begin to describe them
'historically great' would be more accurate

and you're leaving off the minor point that his bad seasons came after a catastrophic injury

Pretty much everybody in the Bay area refers to San Francisco as "The City". Nobody in Oakland refers to Oakland as "The City", unless they are from out of town or something. 😀

I thought you lived out here for awhile? :hmm:

Yeah, I did. It took me a while to understand this "hella" thing; I still don't get it.

The City, I only started noticing about 2 years ago on the same rush of Warriors gear that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Go figure... 😀

Warriors fans came out of the woodwork almost as fast as those sudden 49er, er, well, Kaepernick fans did.

On the east side of the bay, anyway. A's and Raiders to me always seemed like their top teams. Regardless of their fortunes in any particular season, east bay folks seem to love those teams.

Like I said before, Curry being MVP let alone unanimous MVP is still BS. In the playoffs, with Curry on the bench, GSW are +11, with Green on the bench they are -11. They beat Portland without Curry. GSW have tons of shooters to pick up any slack on shooting, without Green they wouldn't even get past the Thunder.

Curry's MVP was based on the regular season, period. You're only proving one thing here, that you dislike GSW.

Good thing there's two MVP awards, one for the regular season, and one for the finals.

Amazing game for Lebron and Kyrie, but I worry that a performance like that will make Kyrie think he should do hero ball more often. Should be a good Game 6.

Well, Bogut was pretty much an afterthought in the 2015 Finals. He's been pretty much a sometime player the last couple years, gets injured a lot.
It was obvious to me from the hyperextension that he's out for the Finals. I also questioned whether that even hurts or helps the Warriors. He's good for a blocked shot or two each game, but otherwise gets abused by quicker players who drive at him. His offense is usually non-existent. One thing I've wondered is if the Dubs would not be a better team if they started the "Death Line-up" and played it heavy minutes every game.

No, I don't hate them, Curry should not have been MVP let alone the first unanimous.
OK you don't hate them, you're just an idiot. 😀

That's fine I'll be an idiot. I've been saying it before the playoffs, he's not the MVP of the league, playoffs or regular season. I just know what MVP truly means.

So you must be some famous person working in professional sports, right?

Oh man, are we going to get one of those "superior basketball knowledge" moments?

Tell us: what does MVP of the regular season truly mean?

The question that arises here is do you consider the MVP to be the player that had the best season, or the player that was the most integral to their team? If anyone claims that Curry didn't have the best season, they're a liar or ignorant. Trying to come up with a "not best player but most integral to team" argument is difficult though because there can be a player that was extremely valuable but on a bad team. And no matter how valuable to a team a player was this season, nobody played as well as Curry.

He owned 3s like nobody before him, and probably scored the most overall, I don't know the 2nd because I haven't seen stats. How was his defense? Can't argue his offense play but his defensive isn't that MVP level. IMHO draining 3s shouldn't have been enough for him to get the unanimous vote. Not saying his defense sucks, but it's nothing to write home about. I just looked up the #'s for all defensive team, he got 3 1st team and 13 2nd team votes. And I bet half of those came from his popularity.

They did basically win two playoff series without him. Would Cleveland win one game without Lebron, let alone 8 of them?

I do sort of understand Lebron's comment about the selection. Most impressive player vs. most important.

They wouldn't have made the finals, probably not even out of the 1st round of the play-offs without James. He took the Cavs he was on the year he left to the finals. Outside of James they were about on par with the Lakers squad. Who couldn't even make the play-offs with Kobe still healthy. The following year they had the worst record in the east without him. Switch James with Curry, would the Cavs still be in the finals? I dunno, but I have a feeling nope.

Right, but we're talking MVP of the league (regular season) vs playoffs.

Steph was the legit MVP these last two seasons and I don't know anyone else that can challenge that.

He's clearly garbage in the post-season though.

Because of that, and 4? previous MVPs, I'd definitely take Lebron over him. I guess you could argue that Cleveland and Miami were both pretty bad without him (esp Cleveland), so that shows you just how important Lebron is to the team, on top of being the best player on whatever team.

MVP is also a popularity contest. The league needs new blood to sell jerseys.
They didn't give Jordan the MVP 10 years in a row for the same reason.
Yes, Lebron is MVP every year, but that gets old.

That's not how the regular season MVP award works.

It's not a question of who the best overall player is (Lebron). It's basically who has the most impressive regular season that also translates to wins for their team. The Warriors won a record-setting 73 games, and Steph was their best player for the regular season, so he's the logical choice for MVP.
