Had a 2000 Tahoe. I loved it, until I had to fill the gas tank and had to keep replacing the side view mirrors because the wife kept clipping the garage :'(.

I don't see how any of full sized Chevy trucks could be known to be prone to leaking without saying ALL Chevy trucks are known to leak. They are all based on the same platform and share all their components.

My neighbor has an older Yukon. That thing is a pile of junk on wheels. It leaks fluids all over the place so he doesn't even park it in his driveway. There is a huge oil slick on the road in front of his house where he parks it and I was getting something out of the trunk of my car last night and smelled coolant while standing right in front of his truck... I should mention that to him. I'm sure he'll be thrilled about that.

sounds like a user issue

Front-end just looks too angular & trucky to me. I liked the curves on the old one:

http://file.kelleybluebookimages.co...vrolet-suburban-side_8178_001_640x480_41u.jpg

it IS a truck, it should look trucky and semi-brut-ish

I don't think so. He has a Pontiac GTO in the garage that he rarely drives and he had a Toyota 4Runner before the Yukon but that was probably like 10 years ago. He told me that he has taken it in multiple times for the rear differential but it just seems to leak constantly. The Toyota never leaked and I haven't seen the GTO parked outside ever so I don't know if it leaks or not but I tend to doubt it... just this pile of shit.

my brother just sold his 2003 with 260K on it to pick up a 2012 CPO

rear main seal was leaking, crank had gotten out of round, at 260k, only fluid leak he ever had

yeah they are real piles of garbage :p

What work requires a 45K+ SUV for cargo?

My cousin is an offender - household size of 2, husband owns a full size pickup, and she works from home. 99% of the time it's just her and her tiny dog in a big ass suburban. Makes zero sense.

I regularly need to haul large boxes in the dimension of 6'x4'x4' and a bunch of random other items. These are items that are fragile and need to be protected from elements, so a truck doesnt work. A van would work, but only the Stow-n-go Dodges really work for us, and they are pieces of shit. I know, we have two of them. It would also serve as a vehicle we use to carry customers from place to place, so its needs to be somewhat presentable, spacious, professional, and comfortable.
All of that AND it needs to be extreme winter weather capable... as in being able to handle 10" of snow with 2.5' drifts on icy/rough roads. The dodge vans cant really handle that.

So believe it or not, no matter how much you hate these vehicles and believe they should be banned, they do serve a purpose to some people.

Yeah, not a fan of the new styling.

I do like current model though. They are a bit expensive on the used car market. Hoping people will jump onto the new band wagon and current model prices will tank (unlikely though).

I'm still hesitant about getting an SUV, they are too high up and access in/out is annoying. Minivans do everything (but towing) SO much better when it comes to hauling people around.

They look ok. Didn't like em at first, but now I've warmed up to them.

Hard to beat the new Jeep GC on looks, though.

This is one of the first times I haven't seen a Chevrolet interior and immediately thought of it as cheap looking.

Nice to see them stepping up.

Yeah, I always end up having to rent a Home Depot truck if I need to move anything big, since all of my friends with trucks have sold them and downsized to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars :D It's a pain and definitely deters me from doing some larger-sized projects because it's such a hassle to acquire the transportation I need to move stuff of that size.

I'd really like to see a large SUV with a really good hybrid system in it, like something that can hit 40 MPG+ highway, but at least be the size of a minivan or a Tahoe. The 4-cylinder BMW X1 gets 34 MPG highway with premium gas, which is one of the best ones I've seen:

Mind your own damn business, and get out of my way, the Hemi wants to run.

this thing is ugly and the GMCs should not have cadillac headlights.

i think part of my problem with this is that the current suburban is very nice looking.

If you work from home and don't have to commute 40 miles a day, a huge SUV makes sense. It's not like you're wasting much fuel

The truck term is cliche, truck is freight vehicle, suburban/tahoe are SUVs, silverado is pickup, all of which are personal cars.

So it's not a truck.

To get to the topic, I like the GMT400 and GMT800 series by their appearance, the GMT900s sold since 2007 weren't that cool but still looked nice compared to this new one. Can't speak of technical/quality side, never drove it.

This new model just looks boring. I haven't been a fan of many GM designs in the last few years. Also they could've picked a better color to show instead of champagne, I think it makes the suv look more flat and plain. Anyone else think the headlights look like the 2010+ f-150 headlights?

I hate these. I hate most recent GM model, even the new Corvette. I don't know much about design so it's hard to put in words why I hate them, but I think it's GM's total lack of subtlety. Everything is too big, too flashy, too obvious. The previous Suburban had an understated style that I really loved. I will miss it.

It looks fine to me...

What I don't understand is why GM had to make 3 different names for the same vehicle...you'd think that would end up costing them more money...it's not like there are a ton of manufacturers making anything near that size, so why cut your own market up...

Oh well, GM gonna GM

Sorry he got a bad apple, but labeling all of them bad because of one (especially an old one when looking at a new one) is a little silly :|

My parents' neighbors have a 2000 Silverado with way over 200k miles (probably close to 250k by now) and while yes it did need a rear differential rebuild that was more because the son did a high rev neutral drop on it :p

People still drive these boats? I thought the giant SUV fad was over.

The "fad" may be over but there is still a market for them. GM pretty much has the monster SUV market cornered and has for a long time. Ford tried to break in with the Excursion but they didn't fair too well. Definitely a use for them also for some people. Other people just like going large and, well, whatever, their money so they can buy what they want. Free country (somewhat).

They are too big for me so I'll stick with my Trailblazer (or a newer model when the time comes). Occasionally I wish it was a little longer for some cargo items but 99% of the time it is fine. I really do wish they didn't end them in 2009, oh well.

It's badge engineered for 3 brands, Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. Each gets a short version and a long version. I doubt it costs much extra to produce the different ones because the only differences are sheetmetal and of course the options which vary anyway. But they can appeal to different segments of the market with Chevy/GMC and Cadillac.

that looks pretty exciting. Oh wait, what's the complete opposite of exciting? Multiply that by 10.

its a boxed frame truck frame with seats bolted in it.

its not a unibody POS like the new pathfinder and other crossovers

if it has a real frame, its a truck, if not its a car :p

Looks huge and boring as always. I can't imagine why someone would prefer this size vehicle for driving around a city, but sure enough I see 90% of these driven by a single person. So wasteful.

my brother has a tahoe and has 3 kids and a 100 lb german shepard.

its crammed full and they use a car top carrier when they vacation in it

But if I ever see him in it by himself!!!

I really don't get the "a single person should not be allowed to buy a car larger than a one seater! omg! government please help us!" arguments. =(
