2015 Ford Focus ST Diesel Wagon

The Focus wagon is definitely a good looking car, and I could see it being popular with a gasoline-based hybrid drivetrain. With the diesel, however, I don't really see the point of it, given the poor mpg (only 28/43 city/hwy). Also thought it would be faster given the ST badging, but a 7.5 second 0-60 run is pretty poor when both the Accord Hybrid and Camry Hybrid will do 0-60 in the low 7 second range.

I'd wager the actual reported mpg's by users will be significantly higher. It usually is with the 4 banger diesels.

I'm not sure diesel and ST go together all that well given the power is about 60hp less than the gas powered ST. Now a non ST Focus with the same specs would be very interesting given it wouldn't be compared to the highest performance version.

The reported mileage may well be about what you can expect as a turbo diesel is not likely to be quite as efficient as a normally aspirated one owing to pressure loss across the turbo.

But, the Focus in hatchback form is a really pretty car and for the 90% that aren't looking for ultimate performance the day-to-day performance is just fine. I have a 2012 FF Titanium HB and love it. My lifetime average at 56K miles is just under 39mpg with a couple tanks near 50mpg. That being the case I think my average with the diesel would probably be in the mid 40's and might expect a high tank of 55mpg+.

Cruze diesels report better mileage than EPA, obviously depending on driving style. I would imagine their emissions are legit as well since they use urea.

Ford really fucked it up by not offering the regular Focus Wagon in the states. They would have taken a lot of sales away from Subaru and VW.

But I guess they get to sell more Escapes this way.

Was looking at one of those for a company car, but the ride of the ST is too raw for a car that size. The way it would thump over bumps combined with the not-great seating position and seats made my (short) test drive pretty disappointing. I think the Diesel will only be worse because there's yet more weight for the suspension to deal with, and it already felt overweight and undersprung.

Also the salesman was a lazy bum, and didn't even try to sell me on the model...

Doubtful. The Focus hatch is similar to the Impreza hatch and the Escape/Forester easily outsell both. I like wagons but facts are facts and most Americans don't.

One of my complaints about my ST is that the hatch area is too small. I have sons that play baseball and when I transport 2 of my sons and one of their friends, the hatch fills very quickly with baseball bags, camp chair(s) for me, cooler, etc. The extra 8" (hey now) from the wagon would be great for me. I used to have a Mazda6 wagon and it was a great size - didn't feel big but had plenty of space.

I do like that stealth gray that Europe gets but US doesn't...it's admittedly bland but quite unusual at the same time.

Current gen Fozzy. They're still pretty small...about 180". They've gained mainly height and maybe a bit of width (but not much).

OK, from 2000 to 2015 it's gained about 5" of length and height. That's not massive....

Like the color. Looks like a matte finish. They should have stiffened the frame, raise it a couple inches, awd, and put some all terrains on it. That along with the diesel would make a cool ride you could take anywhere.
