2014 Steam Summer Sale Thread

I was considering getting BLOPS2 but at £19.99 it's just not worth it. CoD titles are always overpriced and I won't contribute to the Activision trust fund, £9.99 or less for me.

Dang, sale's over. I got some good stuff.

Thief 4 is still on sale. I got it a few weeks ago. It's about 25 hours long, which his pretty good. Feels like a less polished Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Looks great. However, it's still got some bugs. Biggest one is the sound. There are more than a few threads complaining about this online -- doesn't seem like they've fixed it completely. The volume is all over the road. I had all the volume levels pretty low, but there were still really loud peaks -- now it's lower and most stuff is inaudible but no more heart attacks.

Picked up Borderlands GOTY + Borderlands 2 for $9.99

And got the Tiny Tina DLC for BL2 since I heard it's the best one. I played a small amount of the first Borderlands on 360 really looking to playing it in it's entirety. Might be a year before I even start BL2.

Sale is still going for another 21 hours (at the time of this post).

Basically most of the major games that went on sale are put up again.

I don't care about those. Checked out age of wonders 3 but looks like no tutorial and very complex.

Pretend it is the old days and learn from your mistakes!

In all seriousness though, play on easy until you get the hang of it. There will still be enough challenge if you're new to the game. There is definitely a lot to take in.

Haul :

Trine 2 - not big on platformers, but too much good word of mouth
Civ 5 Brave New World
Skyrim Dawnguard and Dragonborn
Divinity Original Sin
Baldur's Gate 2
Shadowrun Returns
Battleblock Theatre
and free Omerta

Put Child of Light in my cart, and forgot to actually buy it. D:

Made about $7 from cards, and leveled to 35 from 32.

Anyone get any foil Summer Sale Cards? I didn't even see one.

One of my more active sales in a while.

Cities in Motion 2 Complete
The Fall
Dishonored
Metro Last Light
Baldur's Gate 1&2 EE
A couple DOTA2 treasures

I actually maintained some control this time:

The Fall
Enslaved
Bioshock Infinite Season Pass (for the 2 story DLC).
Next Car Game
Walking Dead Season 2

Made about $8 in cards (saved up) so...eh.

I ended up with brothers, metro complete pack 2033, metro last light, deus ex. Was watching age of wonders 3 videos on YouTube. Damn there is a lot of stuff to understand. Thinking about buying dragons age too. At these prices can't complain. Who knows if I actually will get to play them all.

Eh, lame... Ikaruga never went on sale after people voted for the other garbage that had already been on sale and is probably on sale right now... again... for the third time. :|

My haul:

Skyrim Legendary
Borderlands 2 GOTY
Bioshock Infinite + Season Pass
Call of Juarez Gunslinger
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
Brothers
Papers, Please

$50.79 spent and $3.30 in Summer cards earned. However, I'll probably try to re-buy Summer cards if/when they get below $.10 each to craft that badge. Level 12 here I come!

I've beaten and enjoyed COJ Gunslinger already. I'm not sure I want to crack open those AAA games quite yet as I'm still rocking a 560ti on a 1440p monitor and I'd rather play them in their full glory. The last couple generations of video cards just haven't felt like good investments. I'm waiting for 290-level performance (aka ~60fps at 1440p for new titles) at ~$250 and hopefully we get that sometime soon.

I bought AoW3, kind of mistakenly. I thought it was more similar to Age of Mythology/Age of Empires and not Civilization. Zero tutorial, and campaign just throws you into a mission without directing you. Eh... hopefully the dev releases an update with a tutorial or something. I'm not gonna watch ten 45 minute Youtube vids to learn this game lol.

Got me some stuff while Anandtech was down.

Am I only one who doesnt give a rats ass about badges and achievements?

No, your not. All the red/blue/pink/whatever team B.S. plus all those badges. I don't even open up my Steam inventory anymore when I get the notice as I couldn't give a rat's bottom side about all that crap.

You should at least sell your cards for $$. That's what I do, free money is free money.

Yea I was going to buy age of wonders but I went to check out some videos and read about it. I too thought it would be like age of empires and maybe tropico lol but nope seems like they throw you in and off you go. Not sure if I would have time to even learn how to play it.
