HOU getting both Clowney and their choice of QBs outside Bortles and Manziel is quite a coup for them. They probably figured they'd be resigning themselves to Garoppolo or someone by taking Clowney at 1.1.

guess houston will draft Derek Carr in the 2nd round as their Franchise QB.

Wow, big reach there, especially since it wasn't a position of need.

Definitely not a reach. There were rumors of him being the first safety off the board and getting drafted in the second half of the first round. He's gonna play nickel DB and maybe transition to SS when Bethea is done. It's a great pick IMO and nickel DB was a very serious area of need. My preference was Verrett but he went a couple picks earlier.

I guess I'm a Browns fan now. I refuse to let the crappy hometown team dictate who I spend time watching. I want to watch Manziel so now I'm a Browns fan.

They brought up a good point about Bowman last night. How is his injury progressing? It has only been a few months, but he likely had surgery already right? Do we see SF pick a LB in the 2nd or 3rd to groom, just in case?

I am also a bit surprised by the Cowboys pick. I'd much rather they had picked a defensive linemen, but an OT isn't the worst choice. Protecting Romo should be a high priority.

Bowman probably back by mid-season. You know he'll want to be ready for the Thanksgiving game.

I don't see us going for a ILB though.. they have capable backups and still have Willis.

I like that the Bills moved up to get Watkins, but the cost is huge. If we bomb out this year, we'll be missing out on Winston next year.

Pats picking up Dom Easley could be good or bad. Another injury prone player (both knees have had ACL reconstruction). But he's a beast and would have been a top 10 pick if not for the injury concerns. I guess it's a good gamble for a late 1st round pick.

So I know we needed linebacking help, but it seemed like a bit of a reach to grab the UCLA kid at that point (not that I really know anything about college football). I thought they would either grab Manziel or the Denard there.

Was very happy to see them come back to the end of the first to grab Bridgewater though. Overall seemed like a decent first day.

I don't think the Vikings were going to pick Manziel or Gilbert and just stole a pick from the Browns. It isn't a terrible choice to get a LB, especially if they were planning on moving up to get a QB at the end of the first like they did and they plan on rushing him. I think he also played a little DE, so as an Allen replacement, it might work out well.

Easley was considered a top ten talent and would have been mentioned in the same breath as Donald howerver he has blown BOTH ACLs and is still in the recovery period. I actually really liked him to the bears at 51 and seeing him drafted this high seemed odd.

I think Easley is a good gamble though. In the event he stays healthy, he will be great. Especially with Wilfork mentoring him.

Scheme wise he seems like a bad fit for what the Patriots do. Easley is more of a 43 guy playing 3 technique vs a fat guy run stuffer Nose in a 3-4. I dont see him gaining 50 lbs and not having more knee problems. Weird pick and Charlie Casserly called it a reach on air this morning.
