So, for some stupid reason Yahoo is requiring you to put in your cell phone number (so they can spam you with text messages) to play in the bracket challenge this year. So, I can't renew the group there, since I don't even own a cell phone, and even if I did I would never willingly give it to them to play a free game and allow them to spam me.

Anyway...anyone have suggestions on a new locale? I'm thinking CBSSports.com. Unless someone has a, known, better option.

are you sure about that? just checked real quick and looks like if you don't select the $1 billion entry method it doesn't need anything, took me right to the enter group ID stuff.
 
Can anyone PM me a good guess for entering in that 1 billion contest? I know nothing of basketball. Will reward if it is a win!

Yeah but try and create a bracket. You choose a pool, enter your team name, reenter your email password...and it then makes you enter a cell phone number.
 
Unless they remove the phone number requirement for everyone, I won't be using Yahoo again. It's unfortunate, and would be really crappy if they required this for fantasy football this year. It's a good way to lose people, there are already a lot of gripes about it in the feedback section of their site...especially from overseas users (including US Military people that don't have cell phones overseas of course).
 
Well, not much input, so I'm going to say CBSSports is where we I'm going to create a group. Probably going to do it Sunday or Monday. Speak before then, or don't complain.
 
yeah I just created that so I could do some troubleshooting. pretty stupid that they require a phone number.
 
Ok figured a way without a cell phone. Enter a non-cell number. On the next screen when it wants to send a text to verify, hit the button to get a phone call instead. You will then get the register code via voice call, enter and be done.

Thanks, good to know. I still won't be joining Yahoo unless they remove that requirement entirely.

Does this still work?
I'm using a Google Voice number and it doesn't appear to be working.
