Keep in mind with a used Subaru you've got a timing belt job required around 100k. I was quoted anywhere from 400-800 (from dealers) when I had mine done four years ago.

Also I don't know when/if they ever fixed it, but the non-turbo engines had head gasket issues and they will eventually require replacement. Of course turbo engines bring other maintenance stuff to worry about.

Now she will consider a CPO , but only AWD, makes it that much harder to find something. We'll keep looking, there is no rush.

Please tell me she's not one of these people who thinks AWD means "drive on snow and ice like it's a sunny day"?

And was this a change in the requirements? Most of the cars in the OP are FWD. She could get a nice used car plus a set of wheels/snow tires in her budget.

That was what I was wondering also. She wants the Kia, has been looking at a bunch of junk used cars......but will only consider an AWD CPO car.

I have a 2013 Kia Forte Koup SX and I paid nearly $30k for it. It was fully loaded.

I'm struggling to see a 2014 Kia Forte EX fully loaded for less than $20k.

consider the impreza, it shouldn't be much more than kia forte, and comes with AWD

She sat in a 2013 Impreza and 2013 Legacy and loved them both. We're now trying to find a 2010-2012 model hoping the interior isn't too much different.

Impreza went though these redesigns:
Third generation 2007–2011
Fourth generation 2012+

Legacy went though these redesigns:
Fourth generation 2003-2009
Fifth generation 2010+

Just a matter of locating one now.

Do you have car max dealer nearby? I have seen that they have some selection. It is going to be hard to find either one in that yrs since a. They have small volume b. People don't change them like socks.

2014 legacy is out, you can get decent deal for new 2013 + 0% interest, which you can't get for used.
