2012 GT. You can get some good deals on a fast car. The extra 8hp and palstic bits aren't worth it. And while all the junk they strap onto these cars makes them look cool now, in 10 years they'll be screaming "I'm trying too hard".

Price is inching up a bit much to still be an affordable romper. The American v8's are encroaching on German territory and I don't think they will be able to compete. The v6's are still very competitive.

I like the styling on the '12 GT500. As for the '13, the front end looks a bit more aggressive, almost like it's trying too hard, but I do like the quad exhaust in the back. Honestly, I think I'd add the Ford Racing 750hp supercharger upgrade before I would trade my car in for the '13.

I like the 2013 looks...I was originally a mustang guy (1966 GT as my first car, a $40k restoration...and a 1988 GT with T-tops and the full FMS catalog on it plus some Lincoln options due to being the regional service manager's personal car when I bought it in 1990).

The latest (esp the rear end) have been atrocious. Not to mention Ford allowing the cheap seat crowd to buy the premium body packages.

You do realize that 750HP kit is like 30% of even a 2011 model once installed.

The premium Mustang crowd updates every new style to stay in front of the pack.

I was shopping the Boss 302 vs the 2006 M3 I ended up with. They were within $50 per month payment wise (I went with an ultra low mileage M3). Still every test drive in the Boss I passed probably 12+ nearly identical cars.

Personally I want a unique car rather than the fastest out there. I could easily build something 'fast', but it's not that fun always. The 1988 GT I owned, I actually downgraded some parts to make it more enjoyable day to day.

My 240SX I recently sold was an OK commuter when I was less than 4 miles from my office, traveling 30+ miles each way in my next gig was too much.

I loved that car.

I will agree that sometimes paying much more than a car is worth is the right choice in rare models. In your case I'd probably source a Boss or GT500 or a 3rd party's version rather than dropping so much on straight line power.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are you talking about the cost of the kit? The supercharger is ~$7K, probably $8K installed by Ford.

Was that directed at Kadarin? If so, I think he already has a 2012 GT500.

Hey, you never know. The '13 GT500 may have a 1000hp supercharger option soon. :)

Correct, I have a '12 GT500. I also suck at being able to actually park it.

Just curious, what is your goal for having that much power? I know that I can barely get the power to the ground unless I'm in 4th gear going about 70.

At this point it would have everything to do with penis size, as I have the same problem of not being able to get power to the ground.

Do it man! I'm hoping to upgrade my (wife's) '11 Mustang GT with the 624hp supercharger sometime this year. And that supercharger is the same price as the GT500 750hp upgrade. :( Don't let a GT out power you man. ;)

Tires man. I run 25 psi in my MT ET Street 315/35/17 with 624RWHP/601RWTQ and they hook in first gear on the street as long as it's above 60 F. Worst case, 40 MPH roll 2nd gear has a 99% success rate. :D

It's all about the tires.

I didn't realize it was the GT500 kit (the mustang gt kit is roughly the same price and hence close to 30% of the value).

On the GT500 it could be worth it.

Yeah and replacements about every 7500 mile oil change :)

My car stock is around 4.5 0-60 and a 13.2 quarter...that's pretty quick. An HPF setup doesn't really help so much down low, but puts down a 5.8 sec 60-130 time. I am debating a more reasonable setup than the $20-30k the HPF kit is (built internals with methanol injection).

I may just end up with 3.91's and call it a day.

Gotta pay to play. Without the tires, the power is useless, and the car isn't enjoyable.

Huge thing I like about HPF is you can pay the difference to upgrade from one stage to the next if you change your mind.

yeah...I pay to play. My M3 is my DD commuter. hitting 1000 miles in a week is not unordinary for me.

I was having this conversation with a few buddies of mine last night. We were talking about a cobra a friend owns that is getting close to 850+ at the wheel. Its only usable in any sense of the word at the speeds you mention.

The car kinda became a one trick pony...
