2013 vs 2012 Ford Mustang styling

The 2013 Mustangs will be out this spring. I haven't decided whether to buy a left over 2012 or go with a new 2013. I like the new styling of the 2013 better than the 2012.

What's your opinion?

For 2013 the Mustang V6 models are keeping the same base prices as the previous year. The 2013 Mustang V6 base coupe remains at $22,995. The same holds true for the premium V6 coupe which will keep its $26,995 pricetag. The V6 convertible models are no different, keeping their price tags of $27,995 for the base model and $31,995 for the premium.

The 2013 Mustang GT base coupe starts at $31,095 which is an increase of $1,100. Though the increase for the premium model Mustang GT isn't as much as the former it is still going up by $200 to $35,095. Buyers looking at the 2013 Mustang GT convertible models will also see increased price tags with the base model going for $36,095 (increased $1,110) and the premium at $40,095 ($1,200 more than the 2012 model).

The 2013 Mustang Boss 302 sees the highest increase this year with a starting price of $42,995, up $2,000 over the previous model. The limited edition Laguna Seca model also gets a $2,000 increase to $49,990.

ugh. i like the '12 model better personally. i'm not too happy that there is yet another increase in the price for some shiny bits and different headlights...

again, personally, i'd go with the '12 year and try to talk the price down since the '13 models will be coming out soon. i'd expect that good deals could be had on the '12 GT500 since the newest model will be such a monster.

Yep. I actually do like the taillights better on the 2013 though. But like amish said, I'd take a heavily discounted 2012 now since the 2013 are coming out and wait for the 2015 redesign coming in 2014. 🙂

And V6 :thumbsdown: Get a GT or better.
 
I do really like the looks of the 302 Laguna Seca. That would be to the only Mustang I would even consider (if it didnt come with a Chinese transmission).

FWIW I love both the 350 and 370 styling. Driving the 370 is a lot better though...
 
Get a v6 and an aftermarket supercharger. You can keep the 31 MPG but also get 500 HP.

That being said, I would love to upgrade my 2011 to a 2013 special edition GT
 
You can still get 31mpg with a supercharger?

If it has a bypass probably.

Bolting on a little supercharger at low boost to a stock n/a engine has the benefit of retaining the high compression ratio when cruising versus a truly built blower engine with lower compression ratio and a much bigger blower to turn when it's not needed.
 
I don't like the fake scoops on the California Edition. Seems silly that the performance Boss 302 version doesn't have them, but the GT does. Besides that, I'm not a fan of them changing the car this often. It really makes a year old version look dated.
 
The front end is truly fugly, but the tail lights are growing on me. I much prefer the look of the 2011-12's overall compared to the 13's.
 
I've never really been a huge fan of the styling since the '05 retro design personally.
Therefore, it still looks pretty much the same to me.
 
Looks really awesome, price is going to be a factor though in the mustang masses. With loaded GT's and the Boss hitting near $40k or more it's too much car for most people's budgets.

My biggest problem with the mustang is they really all look the same and even in the base models they allow you to outfit them with the 'premium' body.
 
I have a white 2012 and it is great. I'm glad I got it before the redesign because I prefer the front end. The new 2013 front end is the same as the 2010-2012 Shelby front end. The new taillights look cool but so do the old ones, so I don't care about that. It doesn't bother me that they redesigned it either because it makes my car more exclusive and unique. If you want the new engines with the current body style, you only have 2011-2012 to choose from. The 2010 uses the old crappy engines, but has the new styling.

I have the V6 and it is not slow. These aren't your old crummy V6 mustangs. Mine came from the factory with 3:31 gears so it gets up and goes and is very torquey. I start from a dead stop in 2nd gear 90% of the time and I can still accelerate faster than my old turbo jetta. Yes it has the MT-82 transmission but I haven't had a single problem and I really like it. It was a little notchy at first but it's broken in and smooth now.

I agree 100%.

The GT at 40k is still a pretty good car for the price, but is definitely getting up there. I do wish they would make the GT look a little more 'special', but the Mustang looks great in any trim (except the GT500 - too bulky for my taste). The tweaking of the car from year to year is actually pretty cool. Ford has always done that to some degree, and it is really reminiscent of the old mucle-car/pony-car days where you could tell the specific year based on small design/appearance queues. Kind of fun for the Mustang enthusiasts, and the need for a full refresh is less with a eveolution of style, instead of the same exact car year after year.
