2013 Porsche Boxster

Ugh Porsche and their 1-6 HP bumps. Boxster S should have more than 300 HP 8 years ago...

Always so careful to coddle 911 owners by nerfing their better car.

Well they've definitely got it priced to compete with the drop top Vette. Nice redesign that will give the Corvette a run for its money.

I wish I could say that it didn't look like just another Porsche. Not impressed.

Uh, 311hp in a car weighing around 2800lbs is more than sufficient. Besides 60 in 4.7 is still fairly quick. The Boxster isn't meant to be this all powerful roadster vehicle anyway, and with that weight coupled with the power and handling it should out run a lot of cars. There is a point at which too much power can ruin a vehicle.

I love it, alot! It's just saddening how Porsche still doesn't even try to hide the fact that they don't want the "lowly" Boxster threatening their other cars. The Boxster is like being a black woman in both the womens and civil rights movements at the same time. Talk about glass ceilings.

"Ok the 911 and everything else has 400-500 HP now, it's safe to bump the Boxster up another 6 HP."

For those who haven't heard the story, I was infatuated with the Boxster S around 2002-2003 and was going to buy one, but having a $50,000 Porsche that couldn't easily lose a stock Mitsubishi Eclipse was unacceptable.

I'm still butthurt over not getting one, it's a beautiful car and driving experience. But there was no way I was going to be happy going from a 130HP car to only a 250HP car when your average stock BMW/Mustang GT/Eclipse/etc already had 260+ HP. Kinda defeated the whole reason I was in the market for a new car at the time... I don't do incremental steps.

i think its more the question of having a detuned engine in the the new 981 boxster s, the 3.4L engine is shared with the new base 991 911 that makes 350 hp.

for reference i have the current 987 boxster and its a great track car, but it certainly no barn burner on the streets.

I've got a PDK Cayman S, and it's plenty fast enough for the streets. Quarter mile at 12.8 seconds:

and 0-60 at 4.5 seconds:

How much faster do you need when everything around you are Camrys and Accords?

261 HP, yuck. That car needs at least 400 HP. For the price of one of those I'd rather get a Camaro ZL1 or a Mustang Cobra.
