I wonder how the GT500 would do with some better brakes. If I ever do anything to mine, that will be the first thing. It's the one thing that my old SRT did better. I know, that's pointless since the point of these tests is to test stock cars.
It's good that the ZL1 did so well. In most tests, it's been overshadowed by the Ford, but VIR would play to the ZL1's strengths and prey on the GT500's weaknesses (live axle (I think VIR has some bumpy turns?) and the 4 mile track means that the brake fade issue is going to be present on every lap, even if they start cool).
For reference, the old Ford GT got a 3:00.7 and the plain '06 Viper got a 3:01.6. What a difference 6 years or so makes.
Yeah I remember when cracking 3:00 was a big deal. Now it's like no big deal and many cars are close. New Boxster S time really impress me. I have a soft spot for Boxster.

$88K for a Boxster S - this thing better have had the $8K Ceramic Brake option!
Love the new styling of the Boxster - Porsche got this one incredibly right in the looks department.
Says right there that the as-tested price was $88,585.I think you may have it confused with a Cayman?

MSRP $60k
Maybe you could option one out for an additional $28k?Nothing would surprise me with the Germans, but that $60k is the S model to start with, the base is a good bit cheaper still.

You can option one to well past $100k. The ceramic brakes and PDK transmission options are over $10k. To give you an idea of how you spend 6 figures on a Boxter S, you can get the bottom part of the side mirrors painted for $605 or how about the slats on the interior air vents painted for $1190 or maybe a carbon fiber/leather interior for about $9k.
