A lot of good games in there. I own pretty much all the one's I'd be interested in though.

getting OMD2, Deadlight. Maybe Dead Island or Dead Rising 2 but DR2 seems kind of meh.

OK friends! Want to scare yourself shitless this Halloween? I am a huge fan of horror games, and although there are lots of great games on sale right now, not all of them are legitimately scary. If you're interested in games that are truly creepy, unnerving, and jump-out-of-your-seat horrifying, then look no further. These are the games you should buy:

Penumbra Collector Pack - You are a man who's taking a boat to a remote, frozen, distant part of Greenland, all alone, to figure out what happened to your father. As you traverse the hostile landscape, you find an abandoned WWII-era underground mine. You fall into the mine with no way of getting out. You're trapped. The only way to go is down. And there's some awfully disturbing things down there... (Start with Overture, and then play Black Plague. You can skip Requiem.)

Scratches - You are an author, looking for a quiet, peaceful place to stay to finish writing a book. Your manager sends you to an extremely old, victorian-era house far, far away. Things seem OK at first; it's an ordinary old house, right? But the longer you stay in the house, the more and more you begin to learn about it. As you learn about the house's past and the people who used to live there, it becomes creepier and creepier... it feels like something else is in the house with you.

Condemned: Criminal Origins - You slip into the role of a police officer who's been wrongly convicted of murder, and are on the run from your own peers. Explore abandoned buildings, watch out for drugged-up homeless people charging at you from the shadows wielding metal pipes. Very intense melee combat with ruthless enemies. Watch your step.

Amnesia - This one should be in everyone's Steam libraries. While the story and setting isn't as deep as Penumbra (made by the same developer), it's one of the scariest games ever made to date, and it's a horrifying experience that everyone should give a try. For $5 it's a no-brainer.

I'll keep adding to this list if I see more.

If you haven't played this, it is very, very good:

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines $4.99 75% off

It's old so the graphics are dated, but the art design is great, the music is excelent, the story and setting are good.

The first thing to do after downloading it is to install the fan patch "Wesp's Unofficial Patch" that fixes a bunch of quest script bugs and adds support for Windows 7 and more than 4GB of RAM:

http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=38278

http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php

This patch has a "basic" version that is just fixes, and a plus version that makes gameplay changes for playing the game a second time.

So the top picks on this list are?

Though third person Dead Space seems good.

Penumbra for a cheap game is actually fun.

Penumbra was for the most part a run and hide game (from enemies), figuring out how to progress and doing what it takes to figure the puzzles.

Pretty much everything I want, I got.

Oh, you guys should seriously check out Orcs Must Die 2. Its a buttload of fun. And if you get the super mega pack I believe it includes all the levels from Orcs must die 1.

I've been eyeing The Walking Dead (greatly reviewed) and at 40% off it's somewhat tempting (it's been on sale for this same price last couple of weeks at other places like Amazon, etc).

If you still haven't purchased The Walking Dead: Do yourself a favor and buy it.

In fact, you're actually LOSING money by not buying this game. Yup. I’m being dead serious. No really; think about it.

You have nothing to do on the weekend, right? So you buy a beer. A beer leads to two beers. Two beers lead to wandering around in a strange, dangerous neighborhood. You meet a woman on the street, and she asks if you want a good time. Might as well... you’ve got nothing to do anyways. Suddenly it leads to cocaine, and some more hookers. Fast forward five hours later, and you're getting beaten up and arrested in Las Vegas because you tried to insert your penis into a slot machine. All because you didn't buy The Walking Dead.

Is this the kind of life you want to live?

I may already own a lot of these games, but I've been picky about not buying the DLC for some of them. I'll probably end up picking up the latest Magicka and Orcs Must Die! 2 DLC.

EDIT:

Bummer... the newer Magicka DLCs aren't on sale. :(

In case nobody has the Bioshock games, instead of paying $5 a pop on steam, you can get it from Amazon for $7.50, and those activate on steam.

Not a very good sale though, I was expecting a better selection this Halloween. Lots of the listed games are pretty old, and have been cheaper in the past.

Halloween sale has never been a big thing on Steam. Though the sale isn't bad, of course there will be old games on sale, pretty much everything that is horror/creepy/etc is on sale that they carry.

Personally I was happy to finally snag Prototype for $5, cheapest it has ever been now, also grabbed Bloody Good Time for dirty cheap. I want Condemned but I can wait till it is $5, but half off isn't bad considering it was just put on Steam today is a fair deal in itself.

This the only sale until Summer 2013?

LOL god no, the biggest one of them all is to come still.

We get the Autumn Sale (normally happens around Black Friday and last 4-6 days) and then the big daddy, the Holiday Sale. Starts usually around Dec 20th and goes through the new year lasting 14 days about. That is "the" sale on Steam.

Yes. So take that job being Santa (or his helper) at the mall. Or donate blood. Or sperm.

You're going to need the cash.

I've been waiting a long time for Prototype to hit this point, but I have such a backlog already, and I'm not sure I'm even that interested in playing it anymore.

You bastard! I hadn't noticed prototype was going for $5 until I read your post!
