2012 Nexus 7 $139.90 at Staples

Thanks bigi!

I was also considering the Hisense Pro 7 (same price range) and actually got to take a look at it briefly. Screen actually looked pretty good but it felt noticeably heavier and not quite as well-made as the Nexus 7.

Since the price was only $10 more for the Nexus, I went for the better battery life and all. Still, I really do wish it had an SD card slot but HDMI should be no biggie for me (got me a Chromecast).

The new Nexus7 supports MIracast (wireless display mirroring) as well as HDMI out via the microUSB SlimPort (basically an improved version of MHL). And of course, Chromecast is just icing on the cake.

I would personally still get a first generation Nexus 7 over the HiSense, simply due to the enormous amount of third-party support & accessories as well as the improved build quality and the greater internal storage capacity.

I'd get the nexus just for the software supoort and community. I actually just got the 8gb used on eBay for $100. Lots of good deals these days on what is still a good tablet

Sorry, the coupon was specifically for the Nexus but was running till the 18th. Don't know how to mark this as dead because I just joined the forums.

I picked one up about a week ago as my first tablet. Works reasonably well. I specifically wanted the micro SDHC and the HDMI-out. I ordered online at Walmart.com for in-store pickup and going through Shop Discover for 5% cashback.
