lololol....what is with everyone totally mis understanding the mayan prediction? IIRC, from the wiki article I read along while back, we move from the 4th phase to the 5th phase...and that phase lasts hellla long anyways - of course I may have mis understood it as well, but a) for sure world doesn't end 2012 and b) too lazy to check wiki before I post this.

this is a true story
 
Might as well have called it "The Day After Tomorrow 2" as this is essentially just a sequel where we get to see national landmarks and treasures destroyed in over the top ways, often in overly and laughably symbolic ways (aircraft carrier smashing the White House, Sistine Chapel splitting exactly where "man" and "god" are touching, etc...)

Hell, even the plot appears to be very close - male protagonist who seems to be conveniently able bodied goes all the way to protect his family. All we need now is his having something to do with knowing that the end was coming (professor of some sorts on Mayans) and specifically rescuing a trapped family member and we have ourselves a veritable clone.
 
Looks epic.

No doubt, story will be bad.

But apocalyptic mass destruction ftw. 😛

I just saw this last night, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. Yes, it's way over the top, but I don't watch movies because I want to see shit that happens everyday.
