Once again Iran embarrasses itself on the international stage. OH NOES 2012 = ZION??!!!!!!!111 JEWISH CONSPIRACY!

I looked at the logo again. You really have to be stretching it to say that second '2' is an 'n'.

Also, who do the Iranians think are the Jew-lovers at the IOC or 2012 Organizing Committee?!? Give me a break.

I hope the Iranians and all the other idiot countries of similar ilk do stay home. They will NOT be missed. (BTW, I think that if a country boycotts an Olympics, they should not be allowed to participate in the next Olympics, too - The USA and Russia each owe one. I think there are others, as well.)

Uh huh. Well, I suppose the only Arabs I ever met were from UAE. They were cool. Didn't seem angry about anything, really. So what's Iran's problem then?

iran doesn't have any arabs, first off. they have persians. it's basically akin to calling americans french. similar alphabet, completely different language, completely different culture, etc.

secondly, iranians hate their government. they love america and americans... they dislike american foreign policy, but they like american culture and american people. they want to be a free, secular state just like us, with better human rights.

finally, iran's problem is that their government is a theocracy under the guise of a democratic republic. the president is merely a figurehead who does nothing but parrot what the imams want him to. the real ruler of iran is ayatollah khamenei. daily, tens of thousands of protesters march in opposition to their government. it's called the green revolution.

iran just recently captured the opposition leaders (who their lawmakers said they would put to death) and put them in a tehran prison. people are waiting to see what happens.

the hypocrisy, now, is that ahmadinejad was blasting mubarrak and gadhafi for silencing protesters and using lethal force against them when HE'S CALLING FOR THE SAME DAMN THING IN IRAN! lol... fucking idiot.

anyways, iran has one of the youngest populations, where roughly 60% of the population is under 30 years old (as is true with most of the other revolting nations in the middle east). they want their freedom and don't want to live under islamic law and dictatorships anymore. they want to be westernized and free.

iran is NOT a shithole and iranian people are not idiots or crazy anti-zionists. iran is an absolutely beautiful country with some of the nicest, rational, level-headed people i've ever met. it's got a VERY rich history and culture.

I saw a travel show on Iran recently, and holy shit, it was beautiful! I would love to visit some day.

since when?

Well, there are no doubt some, but Iranians are mostly Persians. The country used to be called Persia until their dipshit leader renamed the country in a bid to suck up to the Nazis (so I'm told). Aryan->Iran.

Anyway, they're mostly Persians.

"That is a Jew being beheaded."
"That is a Jewish home being burned down."
"That is a faked picture of Jews being killed in a gas chamber."
"That is the glorious explosion of a bomb destroying all of Israel!"

That reminds me of my favorite joke:

"I am going to kill all the Jews and one clown."

You realise that there are jews living in Iran right? And that they're treated just fine?

Iran hates Israeal, not jews.

That is a fucking ugly logo...can't believe no one complained for 5 years. England should be ashamed that they probably poured millions of dollars into something a toddler probably drew.

However, I do see, on the left side, a picture of a guy's torso with his pants pull down every so slightly. The right side looks like a girl hunched over with her hands going to a certain location 😀 😉 That isn't racist...just sexual 😉

Nah Iran is a multi ethnic country....they just all eventually melded into Iranians, like we are essentially all just Americans 😉

LOL @ Nazi Theory...ya know, not everything in the world is because of Europe. Although in this instance I'm not sure, but I know that Iran has gone under that name for a very long time.

Iran's name in Wiki
The name Persia was the official name of Iran in the Western world before 1935, but the Iranian people inside their country since the time of Zoroaster (probably circa 1000 BC), or even before, have called their country "Aryānām" (the equivalent of "Iran" in the proto-Iranian language) or its equivalents. It is not exactly clear what the Iranian people[7] called their country during the Median (728 BC-559 BC), Achaemenid (550 BC–330 BC) or Parthian (250 BC– 226 CE) empires, but evidently from the time of the Sassanids (226–651 CE) they have called it Iran, meaning "the land of Aryans". In Middle Persian sources, the name "Iran" is used for the pre-Sassanid Iranian empires as well as the Sassanid empire. As an example, the use of the name "Iran" for Achaemenids in the Middle Persian book of Arda Viraf refers to the invasion of Iran by Alexander the Great in 330 BC.[8] The Proto-Iranian term for Iran is reconstructed as *Aryānām (the genitive plural of the word *Arya) and the Avestan equivalent is Airyanem (as in Airyanem Vaejah). The internal preference for "Iran" was noted in some Western reference books (e.g. the Harmsworth Encyclopaedia, circa 1907, entry for Iran: "The name is now the official designation of Persia.") but for international purposes, "Persia" was the norm.

Iran has many arabs....Iran is a pretty diverse country in that many different groups live there ie: khuzestan. Actually there used to be a lot of speakers of farsi in Iraq and more arabic speakers in Iran, but population transfer can change things 😉 (ie: its bad).
The big point however is that they are all Iranis, much the same way I'm going to refer to a an American with German ancestory an 'American'.

Very true on the last part. So easy to hate on ME countries.

Hopefully Iran will have its own change the way other ME countries are having it - through a home grown revolution. Makes you wonder what Iraq could have been like, eh?
