2011 Steam Summer Sale:DEAD!

Ever think about moving?
Just for a better Internet? No. i live in a great rural place with a lot of land and privacy that i picked for myself years ago. Ideal for a writer.

And there are always workarounds. WildBlue has an *undocumented* 24 to 48 hour period every month where there are unlimited downloads. Last month i D/Led TW Shogun II, DiRT3, and got up to date with demos and patches.

This month, i got most of Crysis 2 and all of the patches and i would have got Dungeon Siege III except Steam D/Led it to nowhere. More than 4GB of data was not saved anywhere. So it will wait until later this month.

i still have to play, benchmark and evaluate (in 3D) Crysis 2 and i am backed up with reviews for the rest of this month. If i need more than 15 to 40GB (in addition to my 17GB), i will set a HughNet dish next to my WildBlue dish - $200 a month will get you close to 100(+)GB over satellite (and they are launching a new satellite this Summer with a lot more capacity).

okay, picked up Oblivion Deluxe. Been wanting it for a LONG time... New sales start in ~2 hours.

Is it possible to activate BF Bad Company 2 from amazon on steam?

Nope. You should be able to activate it on Origin though. Even with a steam copy you'll need to make an EA account.

If you wait they might put a package deal on Steam for the entire bc2 package. bc2, bc2:vietnam, and the specact kit.

Well I already have an EA account, so that's no issue. I just don't like how Origin only allows you to download for 1-2 years (can't remember how long) and then no more. So if you buy a new computer and can't move the files without messing up the registry you are done with the game.

Picked up Racettear.

Best 5 Dollars I've ever spent. (Along with Mount and blade of course).

I was really looking forward to a cartoony RPG that didn't require much of a time investment. As I'm writing a dissertation and don't need to get sucked too far down the black hole of gaming.

Good Recommendation!

Awesome - D2D and Amazon with sales as well in case you didn't pull the trigger with STEAMS 1 day sales. 🙂

wow - STEAM running on Amiga computers? [Guru Meditation error] 😀

A very subjective question here but...what minimum Metacritic rating is high enough that you don't feel the need to check other reviews(like IGN, Gamespot et al)and will make your purchase decision based just off what it shows on Steam? 80?

80 is probably right. It depends on how much the game costs though and how long I have to make a decision.

Are you serious? That is some ol bull...

Got it for my wife's UL80VT running Win7-64 bit . . ..

It is buggy; sound does not work, the 3D graphics do not fill in properly, (not a bug but) no mouse controls . . ..

Ugh.

Anyone play Ruse? I liked the demo, but is There a community following for it or is it kinda dead? $12 on amazon.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't apply anymore. I remember someone asked about that on their facebook page. They said it used to be true but not the case anymore.

Interesting. I have Recettear installed on 3 different computers and I don't have a single problem with it. Also, the lack of mouse controls is a non-issue. The game controls quite fluidly using only the keyboard (even more fluidly than it would with the mouse actually, considering how much unnecessary cursor movement would be required to move around the small menus).

You may be right but I think none of us should be surprised that EA would pull something like this.

Q: Will my game download ever expire?
A: Digital download rights remain available for at least one year after purchase. Origin typically doesn’t retire games, and we’ve only retired around 10 of the 150 games we sell, and these have generally been because of the expiration of licensing rights. If you come across an issue, simply contact Origin Help and we'll reconfigure things for you.

Not saying this has/hasn't changed, just saying I found it on their website.
