So, I decided to pull the trigger on the 1C Complete pack. My library just got a huge injection of awesome strategy games and RPGs. Can't wait to try some of them out.

A heads up to everyone that is interested.

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines is on sale $13.39 33% off

Reason I post this is because it has only ever been on sale on Steam one other time like 2 years ago.

I'd suggest as always to wait till the last day to buy if you are wanting it, just for the off chance that is shows up as a daily deal (though very slim in this case)

I noticed this too. Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines is one of those few gems that not many people know about, but everyone who has played it raves about it. I have not played it for myself, but it's on my wishlist. If it appears on a daily deal I will definitely have to buy it.

Also, it's a very buggy game, and you absolutely need to install the fan-made patch for a perfect experience. (Long story short, not long after the game was released, most of the developers were layed off and they didn't have time to release any new bug-fixing patches).

Disciples 2 is the best damn TBS ever made thats not a grognard game. I highly recommend the Strategy First pack or at least D2 with expansions. Only like 3.42 each. That less than you fat bastards spend on McDonalds every day.

If you buy the Disciples 2/Jagged Alliance 2 combo pack, it's cheaper than the D2 alone ;)

Anyone know if Silent Hunter 5 has improved from the patches? I read a dismal IGN review but it suggested patches could turn it around.

No clue, I'd suggest hitting up its Steam forum and see. Be aware though it has that always on ubisoft drm (not sure if it was patched like Assassins Creed 2 where it checks online when you first launch it or not)

SIgh... Better be careful. Last time they had a sale, I blew my internet bandwidth cap and paid like an extra $20 ($2.50/Gb over) that month. Mofos.

What's the verdict on Hydrophobia Prophecy?

I enjoyed the game - but some people didn't. If you get the game - go into it expecting a low budget quality title - acting is very campy and transition to swimming can be annoying at times.

Hey, how long has the 2K games pack been up? Was it there all along? $79.99 and you get Duke Nukem Forever too along with a shitload.

My ISP called me 2 weeks ago and told me that since I only use 20gb a month, I should consider downgrading to a cheaper, slower service. Apparently most of the 15 megabit customers use around 100gb. I explained that just because I don't download a lot of stuff doesn't mean that when I do download stuff, I want to wait for it. :D No caps here though, for what it's worth.

Steam download servers seem hammered. Highest it's gone today is only 1.9 MB/s, and right now it's running around 600kb/s. Yuck, Test Drive 2 is going to take 5 hours at this rate...

Luckily, Comcast doesn't complain that much. I've been downloading games (including one that was 25GB) just because I was bored and felt my Internet connection was being under-utilized. I'm definitely over the cap for this month though heh.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a game isn't a daily deal and is currently on sale it will remain on sale for that price for the entire sale unless it becomes a daily deal and sells for less, right?

I love Steam sales, unless it's something I really want I make myself wait until I can get it for 75% off or better.

Looking around, with that rule in mind, I see Dreamkiller is on sale for $7.49, 75% off. Looking at the Steam forum it looks like that game has been on sale very rarely, so I'm thinking about buying it. I want to think about it some more, before I buy, though.

Yeah I was looking at that too, Civ 5 which I have been wanting to get, the new Duke game, tons of other stuff I might play...

I have borderlands, but not all the DLC, so I'd get the, 2 or 3 I am missing, Mafia 2 looks semi fun...

You guys are lucky.

WildBlue (my satellite ISP) will shut you down to almost dial-up speeds for a month if you go 1 byte over your ($80 a month) 17GB *total* bandwidth allowance.

i use the public library to D/L in an emergency (10MB/s down - EA is OK; Steam is blocked) and to do research at the same time and i have found an *undocumented* 24 to 48 hours every month when the bandwidth is completely unmetered (i am getting Crysis and Dungeon Siege III today).

Dammit! Once again I am reminded that none of the Total War games are available to my region.

Oh, they don't complain at all. They just send you an automated notice telling you that you exceeded your bandwidth "cap", then proceed to bend you over, and sodomize you with a $2.50/GB charge. So, a 4Gb Steam download at 50% off turns into 0-25% off. Fine times we live in... I partly gave up on renting movies from iTunes because of this.

i'd love to pay $2.50 a GB. My ISP charges nearly $5 a GB and if you exceed your 17GB a month bandwidth cap - you are shut down to dial up speeds for a month

Hrmm, my ISP has a pretty comprehensive website that shows you historical usage data, real time usage data, and your comparison to average on whatever scale you want. They specifically say that they don't charge extra for exceeding the averages, and that only 5% of users exceed the average by more than double. And that if you're using that much bandwidth, it's probably due to a virus or sharing program that you're not aware of. :D But they're a very small, regional cable ISP.

I'm perfectly fine with the idea of caps (though they don't exist here,) since it makes sense for their business model. I don't understand why more ISPs haven't introduced them. Competition is usually pretty limited, so it's not like most people would have a choice.

What's your download speed on there? 17GB isn't a very high cap. I think I use a couple GB a month just browsing the AT forums...

1.5MB/s - it's satellite Internet - and the worst provider of all - WildBlue
-- if i didn't discover an undocumented 24 to 48 hours a month of unmetered downloading (i got 40GB plus my 17GB last month; including Shogun II :) ) i could never run a tech site.

When the demands get even greater, i will have to set a HughesNet Dish alongside my Wildblue dish .. i figure for $200 a month, i could get 80-100GB a month. It's damned expensive to live in a rural area as a power user of the 'net.

That's quite a computer you have hooked up to that sad internet. :\
