2011 Steam Holiday Sale DEAD!

Well, I'm safe from spending anything because Steam is totally unusable for me. Probably for the best really.

Have to say, I don't know who works on the layout and navigation for Steam, but its bloody awful. Doing anything requires wading back and forth through multiple screens, usually involving losing your place in the list you started with in the process. When every page load involves multiple timeouts and 'server may be down or you may not be connected to the internet' messages it becomes impossible.

Portal Bundle for 8.74 is it worth it?

Portal 1 was fun, portal 2 started to get a little old.

Multiplayer is portal 2 is "different" to say the least. You and your buddy have to work as a team to get through the puzzles.

For $8.74, I think its worth it.

It's hard to decide what to do since steam is unbelieveably still choking but I'm thinking Fable Lost Chapters, Amnesia Dark Descent, Singularity and I have to decide whether or not I'm doing the THQ pack, or get Metro 2033.

Also, can finally see my inventory and this is what it says about Valve coupon gift, so apparently I don't have to use it immediately but it's useless on new games. It also doesn't even become useful until after Christmas sale is over, so nope, won't work with sales.

Wow, Steam is running smooth as butter for me all of a sudden.

Managed to pick up Fable 1 and the Max Payne bundle. For $6, that ain't too damn bad.

Can anyone get the gift pile thing working? I'm lost as to how to locate it and I keep getting an oops page.

Yeah, I'm guessing they don't want to throw it all at the new hamster right away, might give him a heart attack. Better to ease him in to his workload 😀

They should really make it so you can open new windows in the steam client. That way, for example, people could open a daily deal in a new window and not have to reload the store window or whatever window they were on.

No problems at all here. Just got Portal 2. Will take off Wish List and add something else 😉. A nice calm start to the holiday frenzy.

Hey, they gave away Portal 1 free at some point. I don't remember exactly why they were giving it away though.

Steam gave away Portal 1 when they rolled out Steam for the Mac. I ran accross a "free game" thread here at AT, signed up for Steam, got my free copy of Portal and have since spent way too much money on video games.

So Steam did a good job getting me hooked. Just another junkie looking for cheap fixxxes.

EDIT: Nvm. I see a new Portal 2 tab in my main account inventory now, but I didn't win the game. My gift finally loaded and it was just a 25% off coupon for next year.
