Ok...wait. I'm cool with you getting whatever you wanted...but how much did you just spend on a Dodge Diesel to be more practical? You could have fueled that Suburban around the world several times to make up for the cost you just incurred to buy that Dodge. I wouldn't register that as practical.

It was used, '05. Plus, again, reliability factor. The Suburban is oooold.
 
Of those two I'd say get the new Mustang. The Challenger is big and heavy. The Mustang would be more fun to drive. Light to light and in the twisties.
 
I guess I don't see the point of those cars as "weekend" cars. Weekend cars are cars are drivers cars that are too precious or impractical to justify daily driving. The Challenger/Mustang/Camaro are not driver's cars, are not precious, and are plenty practical for daily driving. So why make one a garage queen? The only difference between those and your daily driver are they look cooler and can accelerate faster. Why not drive the fast cool car all week and sell your current daily driver?

I'm not knocking those cars at all, just pointing out that they are basically really cool daily drivers. I think if I had one I'd still want a true weekend car.

It's kinda like 'Hey I'm gonna get a couple of 2GB 5870 Super Special OC Editions, or should I do dual 5890?', and then the guy posting that he got a hot deal on a GT210 1GB (!!!).

For people who have a family or need a truck for their jobs, Challengers, Mustangs, and Camaros aren't practical for everyday driving. Back seats in a Mustang are for temporary use only and RWD muscle cars are bad ideas in the Winter or for hauling tools to a work site.

A weekend car isn't about the car itself being somehow inherently special; it's about someone being able to afford a car that they like, but otherwise wouldn't buy to use every single day because of some other consideration. There are times, weeks, when I'll drive my 951 more than my Volvo despite the 951 being a "weekend" car, but for practical purposes if I could only keep one of the two cars, I'd have to keep the Volvo.

More like saying you had a choice between marrying Kierra Knightly or Hayden Panettiere but instead married a fat chick. It just doesn't make sense...

I think he just didn't really know what he wanted and impulse bought. That's really the only way a guy goes from considering between two muscle cars to two days later buying basically their complete antithesis.
 
I cant speak to the performance side but the Challenger cant be beat on looks. Best looking muscle car out there at the moment. IMO. I want one.

To be fair, there are people getting massive power out of these diesels. If he wanted to build that thing he could smack down a Mustang in a drag race.

True that. One of my dream projects is throwing a Duramax into an older muscle car and going for broke. Diesels put down some incredible power and still retain good mileage. The last Pump Gas Drags had a guy with a Duramax-powered 90's Mustang. Ran 9's with ease and still averaged 30+ mpg over the course of the event.

OP - You should look into some of the kits out there for your Dodge.

Yup. My best friend is a Mopar/diesel freak. He was telling me about a Duramax Mustang, that may have been the same one.

When I live, a bigass diesel pickup would probably be considered Carrie Underwood. Certainly not as glamorous, but definitely hotter.

Anyway, I'm selling my car and going to wait until the 5.0 Mustang comes out to decide on that or a Challenger. It's not like I'm completely ditching the idea.
 
I'm a bit jealous. I'm contemplating a F-250 powerstroke for my next vehicle. I really like the looks of the new Dodge, though.
