After the initial 3-months of additional dealer mark-up then expect 3-months of MSRP and then finally $2 - 6K in discounts.

$40K will get you a fully loaded (minus glass roof) track pack with Nav 400HP monster of a pony car.

Nice to see The BREMBO brake option!!!

There is no track pack, and who would want to spend $2340 on a navigation system? Skip that, and you can get a well equipped v6 Premium with about 3 grand in options for under $30,000 including destination with the same power as a current GT.

Is this new DI 3.7L V6 based on the same basic design as the TT EcoBoost in the Taurus and MK Lincolns?

If so, good lord it'd be awesome to get the V6, and get a unit built up to ~450hp or more with aftermarket stuff.

For cash buyers, a $22k V6 + $8k in Forced Induction / etc would make a compelling alternative to the GT, but of course your warranty would probably not be valid.

New EVO MR Touring has an MSRP over 40, so does the STI - I'm not happy about it, but that's the way it is. A fully loaded 370z is around that as well.

Hail the new $40,000 overlords.

This will be the best performer in the 30-40K range with some breathing room to spare.

That's because of insanely priced options. When your buying a 30k car, spending 3-4k on a nav system is rediculous IMHO. When I bought my Z, I refused to pay the rediculous amount of money for a nav system that increased the total purchase price by 10%.

On the other hand, if your buying a 60k car, and nav is 3k more, thats a smaller % of total purchase price to swallow. Most factory nav systems are mostly rep-offs if you ask me.

Yeah I'm just comparing apples to apples. I think Nav on the Z is "only" ~1800 and that includes a much better stereo. The only real crime I see there is that you can't get it on the base model.

The NAV price includes Auto Climate Control, so it's not quite as bad as it seems.

Isn't the ecoboost 3.5L vs. the N/A's 3.7. I think it is the same basic engine, just extra displacement in the N/A which might reduce it's ability to take FI to the same extent (reliably). Still a great little engine on paper so far...can't wait to get a chance to test drive both of these models.

Yeah nav systems are pure profit for auto makers. You know they can't cost more than $1000 (realistically more like $500) in parts. I bet it's even cheaper to include auto climate control when you have a nav system, because you can eliminate the special climate switches & replace it with an on-screen GUI.

I'm hoping that car companies will start pricing nav systems closer to reality now that some manufacturers are trying to use them as selling points. (Nav is standard on Suzuki SX4 & is a $400 option on the Sentra.)

Compared to the MyGig nav available from Chrysler, Ford's nav and Sync are incredible...

On lower-end sports car pricing...

I wonder if we're heading down the same path as we were in the mid-to-late 90s when every manufacturer had a sports car, but they started to price themselves out of the average person's budget. We had the 3000GT (VR4), 300Z, RX-8, Supra, and Camaro all get pulled or canceled in the same span of years. Hopefully they don't price themselves out of existance again. I bet you'll sell a whole lot more sporty cars at $25-$30 than you will at $40+.

The nav is separate from the premium stereo package and is still about 2k more. All you get for 2k is nav and iPod connectivity (no backup camera either; which actually would be useful). The touring trim already comes with the better sterero...

The Sirius Travel Link is why I'd want the Ford nav. Live weather and sports scores, etc.

The DZATC was a seperate module from the Nav system in 2010 and I suspect it still is.

EDIT: Hmmm...I guess it wasn't. Looks like I can see the ATC settings at the bottom of the Nav screen...

Okay, it's only displayed on the Nav screen. The controls are indeed a seperate module. You can control it either way, including by voice.

Looks like the controls are duplicated in the Nav system, too.

You can use the hard keys on the console, or pull up a screen.

Ahh, yes you're right. The harddrive is a nice option to have though and overall I think it fills in the ugly cubby quite nicely.

I've only tested the G37 version and I'd pay for it in a heartbeat

Well, the base model Mustang @ 22k looks to be about the best sports car value ever at that price segment.
