I think this will look much better than the S-Class and 7-series. I think the current XF is the pick of the bunch when compared with the E-Class and 5-series.

Jaguar is only months away from revealing next-generation XJ saloon, which is scheduled for a debut on July 9th at a special presentation in London before going on sale by the end of the year. We?ve already had a glimpse at the final version following the release of an official teaser at last week?s Shanghai Motor Show, and now a prototype has been spotting racking up some laps at Germany?s Nurburgring circuit.

The new XJ will be the first model feature the next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminum body architecture, and it will be available with the carmaker?s latest 3.0L V6 turbodiesel and 510hp (380kW) 5.0L supercharged petrol V8. A plug-in hybrid variant is also rumored to be launched one year after the regular model, though no confirmation has been made on this yet.

As indicated by the past teaser shot, Jaguar designers have focused on alleviating many of the current XJ?s criticisms ? namely the outdated styling and lack of engine options. One insider who had seen concept sketches for the car described it as looking like the C-XF?s features had been draped over an Aston Martin Rapide.

Previous spy shots revealed that the headlights will likely share some XF traits, though the rear could get fully-modern LED units of a unique design, possibly sharing hints of the Bentley Continental GT Flying Spur ? one of the cars Jaguar would eventually like to rival with its new XJ.

High-tech features inside are said to include pressure sensing buttons, combined with backlit glass panels and the retracting transmission selector knob used in the XF.

Jesus H Christ! How could you get any idea what it might look like from that picture? It looks like something out of a Mad Max movie.

Wow, Jaguar has really hit rough times after Ford dumped them. Looks like quality has fallen off significantly since they had to start dumpster diving for parts.

Lets be honest...everything you see here was initially designed and development started while still part of Ford. The XF is completely Ford designed/built. The XJ was definitely started and likely most of the engineering done while still under Ford's blanket.

And if anything, Jaguar's quality has gone up big time since being owned by Ford...BIG TIME. Jaguar was one of the most unreliable cars out there prior to Ford's ownership...sure it isn't Lexus yet...but it has made strides. And I don't think anyone who sits in any Jag has ever thought of its interior trim as anything but stunning (well croos off the old X-type...that was nothing more then a dressed up mondeo).

I really think the current XF is beautiful and I really look forward to seeing what they do with the XJ. I think we will see Jaguar really prosper under Tata as long as they keep up what Ford started. At least they seem to have the pockets to do so. The new 500HP engines that Jag is coming out with the XFR are brilliant and exactly what the brand needed to keep up its sporting history.

If it makes any difference, the company I work for is German and all the company cars for the partners are Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. They are seriously considering XF's going forward as they are so impressed with them (looks and drive).

You are making judgments on a car based on some matte coverings and duct tape over the lights?
