I've really been struggling with what I'm going to do. My AT&T contract is up on Jan. 11, 2011, and I've been stuck with this dinky iphone 3G (not even 3GS) since my original iphone 3G was stolen, and AT&T refused to let me get a new one without re-upping my contract.

I was dumb enough to allow that, so I had to eat 6 more months. They might have been selling the iphone on or off contract at that point, I'm not sure. But hey, fool me once, right? It's going to be sweeeeeet getting my PAC number out of them as they beg to keep me. Your network sucks and you screwed me. PEACE!

Now I didn't know who to switch to until I saw the HTC Mecha/Droid Incredible HD - http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/11/htc-mecha-incredible-hd-pictured-for-verizon-with-a-fancy-4g/

Man is that a nice looking phone. First day it drops I'm on it...unless verizon's pricing is outrageous compared to Sprint. Then I'll just get the HTC evo or w/e they have available.

Here's to hoping for a LTE smartphone (not tablet) from Verizon. Would like to see a dual-core Cortex A9 chip on whatever SoC is used for such phone. A good GPU onboard that SoC would be highly appreciated.

Perfectly happy with my Droid, but I would be very tempted by an LTE phone from Motorola or HTC.

You'll be waiting a few years. Big screed, BT, Wifi, GPS, cellular radio, and a 1Ghz CPU is going to drain a battery fast. Underclocking and restraint are need to make it last. I can easily get a day from my EVO if I want to. But go streaming pandora for an hour and you can kiss it goodbye. Battery technology needs to improve before it really gets any better.

Undervolt kernel + small spare battery = guzzle all you want

If you're stuck on Apple, of course, swapping batteries is out.

You don't need to swap on Apple because iP4 has excellent battery life. Google and Android can still learn a lot from Apple and iOS.

That's the theory, anyway. In practice, it doesn't last twice as long, and there's still a demand for aftermarket battery extension. (Not as large a demand as there could be, but it's substantial.)

if you all are concerned about better battery life then you should get a BlackBerry phone
