2011 Income Tax Refund - How much did you get?

Just got done filing my Federal and State returns. I'm only getting $1,000 back. :'( I was hoping for more, but I guess less IS more considering it was money I should have had in my pocket in the first place.

How is everyone else's returns looking this year?

I itemize so I can't file till Feb 14. The IRS has no problem telling us to wait, but god forbid we tell them to wait.

It was a bad year for soxfan. Wifey and I owe 8k this year to the fed. Sold our house in March 2010 and forgot to change our W-4 elections. The pain is offset, however, by the fact that we should get ~2k back from taxachusetts.

Only gonna get about $2000. I was expecting around $4000, but for some reason they didn't deduct as much tax from my wifes paycheck every month as they should have, so she actually owed a little. I have no clue how that happened since we have the same employer and her withholding was set to 0 same as mine.

I haven't actually filed yet, but that is my preliminary estimate based on W2 info and some other loan documents.

Not expecting much, definitely less than $500. Between only starting work in May, being single/not itemizing, and claiming (I believe) the correct number of exemptions (2) for withholding, I'll be surprised if I get much at all.

Still waiting on my W-2s though.

Looks like we'll owe about $3k. I think our income went just over the line where we can claim certain deductions and my wife's employer didn't take out enough taxes.

My wife and I both claim 1 apiece and we have 3 kids. Hoping to get back a few thousand but time will tell. No major financial changes this year.

Paid in $189 to federal, expecting between $1000-$2500 back (but haven't filed yet, so not sure). Having a shitload of kids has its perks.

W2's just came online this morning.

Its a decent amount but I am claiming lil rudeguy and head of household. Its all spent on Driver Responsibility fees ($2500 balance), new place ($1500 or so) and $1k for a buffer.

This is exactly what is wrong with our country. We encourage poor people to spawn by giving them lower taxes.

Aww... butthurt because I'm employed in a full time job making a decent salary and still getting money back? Have some kids and quit complaining. 😛

If I get a refund instead of writing them a check I did it wrong. I'm not in the business of giving the Federal Government interest free loans.

I have yet to receive W-2s
same here, i worked for the city last year, as a student aid at the community college for a semester, and started as an intern with a large area hospital/medical provider. i doubt ill see anything before the month is over

i *did* get my 1099 from BofA: $15.53 earned in interest last year, woohoo!

If you're not paying any taxes, no matter how many kids you have, you're not making a decent salary.

I'm made a ton more than I made than last year but I have ZERO deductions.

So I'll probably get like $800 or some crap for my simple return.

I dislike giving the government more than I have to, and have my deductions set up so it should balance to no return cheque.

Cant' file until I have my W2, though.

I wouldn't say that. I have a house, two cars, pretty much everything we need, and bank money every paycheck as desired.

Oh, and it's $179 withheld, not $189.

Who's getting EIC? Only one with kids, that I know of, is Sunny and my guess is he makes too much $$.

You would be correct, no EIC here. It was fun in the lean years to get though... them were some HUGE tax returns.

LOL at interest free loan to the government. Adjust your witholdings people. You didn't "get" any money, that was your money to begin with.
