Don't like.

I'll agree that in pictures it looks a bit odd...but for a minivan...don't know if I really care at all when it comes to a minivan. The functionality of this new Odyssey is supposed to be impressive along with the gas mileage. If I were looking at a Minivan...this would still be at the top of the list.

It looks like either the last third of the van is chopped from a different car or the dude designing the thing sneezed and decided not to fix it.

Ford Grand C-Max??

Looks like they tacked on an MDX to the rear. My bro-in-law was raving about it. He's set on getting one for his family.

To be honest...if I was getting a minivan I would be too. I believe I read that it is rated for 29mpg on the highway. That would be ridiculous to be able to carry 7 people and luggage and get close to 30mpg. Who cares if it looks bad...it is a van...there isn't a good looking one out there...well unless it looked like the A-Team van...then it would be badass.

I'm sure the ratings don't hold when it's fully loaded.

Well, if you look at the details of the new EPA testing cycle, the 'highway' fuel economy is calculated with a lot of varying speeds and other real-world stuff that I suppose would apply mostly to driving on the highway through a city with moderately thick traffic. For example, my Focus is rated around 35mpg highway officially, but I just finished a road trip from DFW to Laguna Beach, CA, and averaged almost 42mpg fillup verified with a passenger, luggage, and plenty of AC usage. So it makes sense that a Van like the one in the OP could manage 30mpg under good conditions (~70mph constant speed, not much slowdown/acceleration).

EDIT : Test routine follows

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml

Click on highway. It's a 10 mile test, and includes starting from 0mph, along with a few slowdowns along the way, notice the speed spiking up and down all through the test. I'd probably get my rated 35mpg in such a situation with my Focus, but when you're on the move for 200-400 miles at a time, and traveling at an almost constant even speed, the numbers improve considerably.

We've got a 2010. On the inside, it looks like alot of carryover with some enhancements (esp the Rear entertainment). The outside will take some getting used to. I agree the rear 3rd looks like a cut and paste from another vehicle. If the 29MPG is actually true...wow, that's a nice improvement over the 25MPG we get.

The rear hatch is a stupid waste of space, it still curves forward until there are only a few inches between the headrests on the rear bench and the glass. If honda was dead set on making their van even uglier they should have at least addressed the major shortcoming in cargo space and made the ass end closer to vertical.

The chrome trim around the windows in the model pictured above makes it look like a wannabe cute-ute.

Maybe the shape was to improve fuel economy. The truly insane hypermilers sometimes put these big cones on the backs of their cars to reduce drag:

Looks like a really good photoshop of a really bad car. Bleh. Another misfire by the Honda design team.

As much as I hated doing it, I got an SUV a while back (an MDX). It's not as convenient and not as big as a minivan but it holds 7 and does the job. My friend got rid of his minivan a few months back. Too many people wanted to borrow it for one time errands like moving furniture or big items and he got sick of it so he got a cross over instead.

Cool, my wife traded her Odyssey for an MDX about a month ago.

Few things.

That back end is completely hideous...looks like the ass end is about to fall off or something.
The interior suffers from blanditis. Plus why a separate clock/radio info screen that doesn't match the interior? Why cant it all that info(radio/clock) be self contained into the navi screen?
And Ford just called, they want their 3 bar grill back.

And yeah I know it's a minivan it's all about practicality, which this definitely has in spades, but yeesh, fugly design.
